Cru Nantucket Reviews
Hideous menu for dinner.
... Small and over priced for what you're getting even for Nantucket.
Got a late table and we were super excited about dinner
Got a late table and we were super excited about dinner after all the hype. HUGE disappointment. Service was horrible and it felt like we were being completely ignored. Hamachi and crab leg app, very good, steak and duck frite top notch, all VERY expensive. Cioppino was horrible, no depth to broth, barely had 2 bites. For this reason I wouldn't recommend at all.
CRU NANTUCKET - very popular and VERY EXCELLENT seafood restaurant !!
Located waterfront on the wharf, Cru Nantucket is an excellent seafood restaurant in Old Town. Reservations are a must (though numerous bar seats are available on a first come first serve basis). On most nights, the restaurant is packed and lively, and loud! We enjoyed a recent dinner: Creative craft cocktails - both VERY good! - License to kill (tequila) - Live and let die (rye whiskey) Blue crab tagliatelle - light tomato sauce with pasta topped with plenty of fresh crab - tasty! Lobster pot pie - MUST TRY DELICIOUS!! - chock full of lobster chunks in a lobster bisque like sauce with a puff pastry baked on top - YUM!!! Haricot verts - tasty string bean side dish We didnโt โsave roomโ for dessert. When in town, try your best to (book a table, and) get to CRU NANTUCKET for a delicious dinner!!

If ever there was a tourist trap on Nantucket, this would be it. The food is just okay but certainly not worth the price. However, this is all over Instagram as THE place to eat on the island. However, aesthetics don't overrule taste. It's a pleasant location with a great view, but there's definitely better places to eat.
this was a pretty delightful meal.
I tried 3 items. The house brioche & two pasta dishes: lobster cannelloni which was very unique. It's not often where you have a pasta like that and the moist taste of the poached lobster along with the sauce and baby turnips were the perfect touch & then the crab tagliatelle - this dish was super light & The crab tagliatelle+ lemon mixture was perfect. Both these pasta dishes were filling and didn't feel heavy. Highly rec all 3 items. The service started off well but nearing the end our server didn't come by to drop the check for a long while, we also asked two other servers in the mean time. Ambiance is right by the water which was super special. The food itself was fantastic - only received 4 because of the service! But wouldn't hold me back to come again.
Hip restaurant with great food!
Best place on island for a scene and great food. Very hip and lively . Get the crucumber and lobster roll. The duck fat potato is great too . The crab pasta is delicious but very small and pricey .
Perfect waterside meal
Didnโt know you were support make reservations months in advance luckily got into line over 30 min before opening to be able to secure a seat! I had local Nantucket oystersโ best I had our whole trip! The fluke fish that our waiter Louie suggested was best fresh fish I had on our trip!!The table we had was right out practically on the water looking at all the beautiful yachts( Roger Penske was there when we were since we are Indiana people that was neat for us!
Great harbor views, great lobser rolls
Cru is difficult to reserve. Many line up on the street for walk-in tables upon opening. Many tables have wonderful harbor views. Inside it is noisy which is good for young families but not great for conversations. The lobster roll with duck fat fries is excellent but pricey ($50). Kids mac and cheese is large enough to share. Mandatory 20% gratuity. For a special meal.
Incredible dinner at CRU
Cru is a fabulous restaurant on Nantucket. Friendly staff and the food and outside dining experience was excellent! Wait time was very short . Good ambience and would highly recommend recommend to anyone visiting Nantucket.

Amazing raw bar - loved the oysters and the raw clams (I much preferred the littleneck over the cherry but both were great). We also got lobster Cobb salads which were pretty average and a side of fries with Calabrian chili which were pretty good. They have both indoor and outdoor seating but we opted for outdoor, which was much calmer and quieter (the inside was pretty rowdy). Walked in as a party of 2 for lunch on a summer Thursday around 12:15pm without a reservation but were seated right away (there was plenty of outdoor seating available - less so for indoors). The Aperol spritz wasn't bad but not my favorite. Overall, not bad!
If you donโt go to Cru did you even go to Nantucket?
Cru continues to be the hot spot on Nantucket and the food and service are great. Known for the seafood , shellfish towers, oysters for sure but the steak and pasta was also 10 out of 10. Sunset alfresco dining with great music and vibes. Do not miss.
Food is fantastic.
I got the lobster roll with butter and she got the crab pasta. Both were amazing. Only downside is it is so loud you can't have any conversation and your brain will hurt.
Very nice meal starting with champagne for our anniversary.
Great service and delicious meal-we enjoyed the summer pasta and the halibut. Really great and attentive service. Only drawbacks would be a little snug table (people kept encroaching to adjust the fan behind us but were practically sitting on our table-would've been better for the staff to handle). Not great dessert options which was fine as portions were great but was expensive. It got really crowded of course so was very noisy but it's the place to go so all good!

The food is really good but the customer service is terrible. We had to flag down our waitress for everything! The issue is they put 20% automatically on the bill so no one works for there money. Portion sizes are very small for the price.
LOVED it here.
Had a 930 resy on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Waited half hour for our table but we loved it here! Lobster roll, pastas, salad, drinks were great

We showed up without a reservation and were able to sit and have appetizers and drinks in the back bar area. Delicious smoked fish pate and salad with ahi tuna. Friendly and helpful servers. We've seen some mixed reviews of CRU recently but our experience was great.
Local Seafood at its Finest!
Incredibly awesome locale for lunch or afternoon drinks, featuring outstanding local fresh seafood and beautiful cocktails. Add in their extensive and comprehensive wine list, and you have a perfect setting for enjoying fresh local oysters on the half shell. What a great place!!
Cru review
The lobster roll is the best with warm butter and caviar. The views are incredible. The service is fast and the atmosphere is wonderful. The cru cumber cocktail was so refreshing!
Best lunch on the island
The food is amazing and so is the atmosphere, They book up so youโll need a reservation. We went for lunch with our two young kids. They liked the fish and chip and the clam chowder (although they donโt serve oyster crackers with it - seems like a miss). I had the spaghetti and clams. It was outstanding.
Fun evening
3rd visit to Nantucket and 3rd visit to Cru! Went on resy at 10am on June 1 (earliest opportunity) to secure a July reservation as many people say it is very hard to get in without. We both had the lobster roll which was delicious. Service was good even with the place very crowded. It is definitely the place to see and be seen.
Still has its magic!
We ate at Cru three times during our annual visit to the island. It still retains much of its magic both as the place "to be" with food that often rises to similar heights. Everyone in (or outside) the restaurant seems to be very pleased with themselves for having secured a table. Service is warm and incredibly efficient despite the mob scene. Oysters are remarkably well shucked and get to the table quickly. We ordered a second platter and then a third. The fried clams are well prepared and available as a main course at lunch and an appetizer at dinner. A crab cocktail, U8 shrimp cocktail (sold by the piece) and the beef carpaccio are good staples of the menu. I know the lobster roll is famous, but we usually skip it, preferring those served at local clam shacks. Sea bass and the halibut mains are always excellent and the NY strip is a nice piece of beef for those who do not want to go with seafood for the whole meal. For our family though, it is largely a feast of oysters with glasses of champagne or a crisp rose. The place invites a joyous celebration and if you indulge, bring a big wallet.

The location is great and our server Corwym was awesome! So kind and fun! The foccicia is great and liked the dinner
I attended CRU restaurant during the bar hours (8pm- 12pm).
I was a male at the restaurant looking to buy drinks for some friends (Female & male) and the bartender denied me from buying a drink because he thought I looked mean. (I am a white male). They were very disrespectful and prevented me from ordering a drink after too. I was respectful in every way. Disappointing that a good bar/restaurant is biased towards people they don't know. Great bar and location other than their bartenders. Super disrespectful to younger adults age 21-25. Actually a disgrace they disregard people they don't know/visitors . Disappointing and disrespectful. I don't recommend.

My main issue is the COMPLETE lack of respect or consideration for visitors time. If I could give a negative number for this alone - I would. NO amount of ambiance or food quality excuses it for me. When we asked regarding the wait, the greeter said "wait is only 20 minutes". 45 minutes later, I walked up to ask if I missed their text and was told "no. It will be 5 minutes, so sorry. They are paying". 20 minutes after that, we left, after informing the greeter that this is inappropriate. The staff did NOT even bother to give updates - just string us (and another group) along though we had only this day on the island. Regarding Ambiance, inside is too cold (aggressively air conditioned) and too loud. Outside seating is lovely. Prices for what they serve are more than the quality, for the most part. I would suggest getting a fish sand-witch close by for a better value and without the aggravation. Otherwise, walk 5 minutes to MISOGI NOODLE BAR - surprisingly good!
Cru is a Must Visit When Coming to ACK
You know you're on island when you're at Cru. The service is always exceptional, the people/yacht watching is second to none, the warm lobster roll has been and still is the best in ACK, the oyster selection is vast, the crab salad with fried chicpeas is the perfect starter and the Cru-Cumber cocktail must be ordered to cheers with and don't skip on the pistachio soft serve ice cream at the end!
CRU is definitely one of the "it" restaurants in Nantucket!
CRU is definitely one of the "it" restaurants in Nantucket! We really enjoyed how beautiful the restaurant/location was; our table was by the water and it was so relaxing. As for the food and cocktails, we had some delicious bites including oysters and warm lobster rolls. The food was good, but the service was slow so my lobster roll was soggy when it arrived (bummer); it was yummy though which was the saving grace. Overall, the location alone is worth a visit so I definitely recommend!
I love oysters, and CRU had the absolute best oysters I've
I love oysters, and CRU had the absolute best oysters I've ever tried. Nantucket is known for their seafood, and this may be the best establishment to try them. The price is correspondent with the degree of friendly and knowledge service they provide here, in addition to the wonderful view of the sunset and the boat docks. CRU is also the only place on the island that stocks size 8 jumbo shrimp I highly recommend trying them.
Cru is the "it" spot on Nantucket.
You can drive your boat up and park, but call the harbor master first. Parking is not free. We sat outside this time. I have sat indoors before and they keep the doors open and the breeze is incredible, as it is right on the water. The servers are very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The food comes out very quickly and is delicious. I had a lobster roll. My husband had a cheeseburger. We also shared some little necks and oysters. Most of the tables outside have ample shade. They also had a high chair to accommodate my toddler. The food is priced fairly high, but what isn't on Nantucket?
Was there for late lunch.
Limited menu (1/2 the menu is alcohol). Food and service were average - not worth the cost or 45 minute wait.
Donโt miss !
The team at CRU is always hustling to make sure you have the best experience. We enjoyed excellent wine, oysters, burgers, shrimp cocktail, soups and bread. Come to CRU if you want to be treated like a VIP and see how itโs done right in ACK !
Gratuity included but poor service!
Really great lobster roll and menu in general. As soon as the server realized we werenโt ordering a bottle of wine at lunch and only got a couple beers, she stopped paying attention to us. She would literally help the table next to us (so close I could touch it) and ignore us. Then the bill included an automatic 20% tip. Food and vibe are great but their service model leaves a lot to be desired. Our service was not deserving of 20% by any means.
Omgosh! I have never been so embarrassed.
We stopped at the hostess stand and asked if we could go to the bar . She told us yes. We got to the bar. I had a bottle of water that I placed on the bar. A lady patron next to me informed me that the restaurant did not allow outside beverages and to put it below and I apologized and followed her advice. I told her I was sorry and she told me it was rude. I again apologized and once again she told me it was rude to place a bottle of water on their bar. My husband and I decided at that point to leave. I apologized to the hostess (same hostess) and told her I was sorry that I brought the bottle in. She looked at me and said we don't allow outside beverages. I had the bottle in my hand when we asked her about going to the bar. Would have been nice to have a heads up.

Started with a few good appetizers- crudo and focaccia were delicious. The warm lobster roll was outstanding. Best lobster roll I've ever had. The service we got from Jose was excellent. The Som recommended an excellent rose bottle called Chateau Peyrassol.

Thank you to Liberty and Matias for an AMAZING experience at Cru! We were celebrating our engagement and we felt so special! THANK YOU!
The most amazing food and it is pricey but well worth it!
The most amazing food and it is pricey but well worth it! We we're just planning to have a dozen oysters then going elsewhere for the main dinner. We had the best Nantucket oysters (Fifth Bend and Pocomo Meadow) I've ever tried which made us realize we should just stay to have a full course dinner. We had the best Sommelier who chose a really great French wine. We had the crab cake which was mostly crab versus breading which is the way it's supposed to be. Then we had the Lobster Fra Diavolo and the special which was pasta scallops with caviar. The desserts were divine ice cream and chocolate mousse. The service was very top-notch and the view is a Great view of the port. This is a good place to dine for all occasions.
outrageouy expensive.
Entrees more than $50. And yet they won't seat you until everyone in your party shows up. Tacky. And insulting.
Avoid
I truly hate it when restaurants wonโt seat you until your entire party shows up, especially when the entrees are $50 or more.

Tons of great seafood options, the food was good but not the best on the island. The farmers salad was probably my fav- simple, fresh- I did find it as too heavily dressed but it was a glutinous salad. The oysters were fresh although I found them super salty, the charcuterie board was a disappointment. The halibut was was a HUGE portion and was good but just too much fish for one person. This definitely seems to be the happening spot in nantucket- it was lively with chatter all around. We found the service a little spotty but it is the end of the season and a busy night.
Great location and lobster rolls.
We stopped in for lunch on a cool, drizzly day for lunch. Loved the location and were seated in the back bar area right by windows, which we enjoyed. The place was busy and the tables all occupied. I guess we were lucky to walk in without reservations and be seated immediately (well it was last week of September). Our server was a pleasant and efficient young woman. We wanted Lobster Rolls and Cru has both hot and cold. She told us most love the hot roll. We ordered one of each and split them. Though the cold one was very tasty, the hot one was really good - the winner for sure. We thought service was good. We expected to pay $$$ for the lobster rolls so no surprise. The only negative comment was that the clam chowder we ordered was basically potato soup - full of potato and not much else, though the flavor was good. One other observation - the oysters seemed to be very popular as we saw servers delivering many trays of oysters to other tables while we were there. I regret somewhat we did not try them.
Not one of the โPretty People.โ
This was recommended to us by a family member, and though we enjoyed our (very expensive) meals (Parker House rolls - $16; REALLY??), the atmosphere was โcold.โ We did not feel particularly welcomed, though our waiter was pleasant. It appears this is a place for the well-heeled set to be seen. Clearly, we did not fit into that mold (even though we were properly dressed for the evening).. There seemed to be a glut of staff not doing anything. One young man walked from one dining room, past the bar, into another dining room, and back again. But we never saw him doing anything. He did bring our dessert, which he plopped on the table and left again. The view would have been very pretty had it not been pouring rain (not the fault of the restaurant); it is waterside, at the end of the wharf where the ferry comes in. Not worth the view, 7nless you have money to burn.
I wish there were zero stars -been going here since
I wish there were zero stars -been going here since Ropewalk days. this place now caters to ferry trade and billionaires alike. so yesterday for over 160 dollars-my daughter got 3 squash ravioli and a martini, I got 1/2 dozen local oysters and a cup of cold clam chowder that was inedible-ice cold. there's 20 percent gratuity charged-I didn't add more as I usually do -so disappointed in a rainy day and it was my birthday and and and -it sucked. proceed with caution-I miss the rope walk and decent service and food.

Great setting along the docks, delicious food but the bloody Mary's we ordered before the food took forever to come out, they finally appeared just as our food was served. We asked the server about our drinks before we ordered the meal but someone messed up in getting the drinks out before the meal, for $21 drinks we expected they would do better.

before I even talk about the food, I have to call out the INCREDIBLE service here! we felt so taken care of, the service was absolutely amazing. the food was great, we had the lobster roll, salmon, and a few apps. don't miss the fried clams! last, we got to sit outside by the water and it was so beautiful. can't recommend this place enough! will definitely be back.
Great service.
Fresh seafood. Raw oysters, clams etc. Very pricey. Drinks were good. Fantastic location and view.

4.5 stars I round to 5. Love the raw bar, drinks, ambience, location, and service. Their lobster roll is unreal too - our server said best on the island and it did not disappoint. (don't bother with the mussels though. It's just okay.)
Great for a drink that's about it as view is scenic.
Food very average and waaay over priced. $15 for rolls and butter, $32 for a burger , $20 for clam chowder Hey if you want to pay 2-3X more than everywhere else go for it.
Amazing cocktails and unmatched views.
The back bar is the best! Food was incredible - the lobster pasta dish was the best
Cocktails & Oysters
We visited Cru while having a little time before catching a ferry. We ordered cocktails and oysters. Canโt go wrong with either! Staff was very attentive but we didnโt require much of their service. Patio is located at the end of a marina and has some good boat/dock watching.
Iโll exhaust all the other higher caliber eateries in Nantucket before returning.
An excellent venue and atmosphere, food came quickly, our server on the other hand, seemed more interested in chatting with his coworkers than attending to his guests. We sat with menuโs closed and made eye contact several times, before he finally came around, this happened again when we were trying to get our check and leave. I had a the lobster pasta, which while bountiful in lobster, was so overpowered by itโs peppery โkickโ that the sweetness of the lobster meat was lost in the sauce and buried by the โkick.โ My associates pasta dish โtasted only of spinachโ (her words). Others in my party had the Halibut, and the steak, they were without complaint. THe bread was good, though obnoxiously priced. The fried clams were excellent. The service certainly reduced the experience.
DON'T GO!
Go elsewhere. It's too loud in the dining room to have a conversation. The waiter took our credit card and overcharged it $200 dollars. The manager took the bill and came back and said we weren't charged at all. WRONG. We had to argue with him to correct it. We were given a half hearted apology. Honestly, the location is great, the view is nice, the food is decent, but the customer service is beyond horrible. Millie's on the other side of the island is much better and their service is wonderful!
