Gaia Mayfair London Reviews
Gaia Mayfair is the Best Mediterranean Greek food in London
Sea bream carpaccio and the frozen yoghurt dessert with loukoumades are two of the dishes that bring me back to Gaia. Absolutely delicious and highly recommended.
Beautiful Setting, Great Food — But Allergen Awareness Could Be Sharper
Gaia is a stunning restaurant with a beautifully curated interior. The food is excellent — fresh, flavourful, and presented with real attention to detail. The menu is varied, with plenty of interesting options to suit different tastes, and the atmosphere even during the day is great. As someone with coeliac disease (severe gluten allergy), I appreciated that they were able to cater for my dietary needs — but there’s definitely room for improvement when it comes to staff awareness around allergens. At a restaurant of this calibre, you'd expect more confidence and clarity about which dishes contain which allergens, and which can be safely adapted. That said, the team was friendly and accommodating, and I did enjoy my meal without issue. Overall, Gaia is a great spot — especially if you’re after a stylish setting and high-quality Mediterranean food. Just be sure to double-check allergen info if you have specific dietary requirements.
Horrible customer experience
Overprice Rude recepcionist Give me a table close of 2 mans than was a kind of drunk, horrible. I tried to negotiate the table for another another and, and the girl receptionist says then the restaurant was busy, basically no tables available, but a was there until 9pm and was no busy at all.
A place where the staff are full of thems
didn’t like the table I was sitting at, so I went back to the lobby and told them there was another empty table in the corner where I wanted to sit. However, the staff didn’t even answer my question and started attending to the next customer instead. The staff are very arrogant and full of themselves. Even though I had already placed my order, I couldn’t tolerate this rudeness any longer and left the restaurant. I don’t think I’ll ever go back. Honestly, it’s just a mediocre place that people visit because it’s popular on social media. I’m the one paying, so what’s with these condescending attitudes? The staff acted as if we were the ones serving them, and on top of that, the prices are way above average. If you enjoy being belittled for your money, then sure, go ahead.”*
Food poisoning
My wife and I were so eager to dine there as we had already tried the one in Marbella; which we enjoyed. But the diner we had turned into a bad experience. Both my wife and I had the Ceviche as an appetizer, she had another one as her main meal and I had a half roasted chicken…. The rest of the evening was a nightmare. She spent the whole night at the WC and next day it was my turn. We spent 1.5 days stuck at the hotel in bed …. It ruined our whole 5 day vacation in London …. We informed the restaurant staff (told them that the Ceviche was clearly the culprit). They sent us an e-mail apologizing and stating that they would conduct an investigation and then we never heard back from them .. . Spending 270 pounds to end up with a food poisoning is unacceptable !!!!! Will never return to any Gaia location and will advise the same to all my friends’ circle ….
Simple food done really well…
Unbelievable Dining - Service 5 ⭐️ - Drinks 5 ⭐️ - Food 5 ⭐️ Visited Gaia today, and was not disappointed. I have wanted to go for a few months, and chose to go for Lumch, as to enjoy the food before it was too busy… I arrived to a busy Linch time offering, however, the Servoce, Drinks and Food did not disappoint… We ordered the Chicken, with Truffle Potatoes and Vegetables… The food is simple food, but crafted REALLY REALLY WELL… Look forward to My return on the weekend…
Pleasant experience
Very nice place, really good and fast service. I really enjoyed the food and think that the atmosphere was really nice. The only thing I would complain about is that I didn’t have mustard on my burger 🍔
Eat before you come because they insist that should share your food
The food is amazing but they discourage people from ordering main dishes and instead they insist you share a dish meant for one person and make you feel like that's normal and that you're just greedy if you want a normal sized portion. They already charge you the earth and on top of that, they want you to feel like you need to share because you're just greedy if you want your own main and management will suggest a side of fries with a seafood pasta dish because that's normal. Upon informing them of my frustration, they said that they stand with the waitress / management and that the client is a liar.
3/10
We came on a Friday night and paid £200 to secure the booking but sadly we had to wait up to 40 mins upstairs standing by the stairs for a table which we have already booked in advance. The booking was at 21:30 and I finished at 12:15 . Everything was delayed had to wait 25 mins for pasta after the table was clear from starters . Our waiter and the food was awesome tho. We had to wait for the bill more than 20 mins and it was past 12 which it wasn’t busy at all . I could see the waiter asking the manager I assume for the bill 2 times but the woman was pretty rude to him . Food was nice as I mentioned but wouldn’t recommend for all the waiting.
They ruined our birthday
My mom and I have a birthday on the same day. I've been to this restaurant before, and I liked everything. I don't know what happened this time. But they ruined such a holiday for us. I didn't expect from them. The service is terrible. The waiter cut the fish behind me, that it smelled so bad for us, as the fact that my white jacket was all in oil at the back, everything jumped on my jacket. The dry cleaning failed. When I asked for dessert (and previously wrote that it was our birthday) it was a shame that they just brought dessert to the table, although at other tables those who also had a birthday beautiful with songs were congratulated. We leave a lot of money there, and the restaurant itself is not simple. It was very hurtful. I told the administrator, but I never received any e-mail with apologies
Excellent Greek food with a twist.
Sea Bream ceviche is the best I have ever had. all the salads are delicious especially the cauliflower salad. Services is great and yes, it is at a premium, but I believe it’s worth it..
Avoid!
The prices are very high, almost extortionate for what they offer. The food is good, but definitely not memorable. There is an army of waiters and they all seem to go running and serve everyone, incredibly pushy. One waiter came to our table to warn us that we had only 30 minutes left in our time slot and kept insisting that we moved upstairs in the bar. They gave us a different bottle of wine, obviously more expensive than our choice, without explanation and then tried to blame the error on various waiters. Seriously bad and overrated
Pushy pushy
The prices are hectic but that is to be expected so that is fine - we loved the food but have had better Greek for half the price . The branch in Dubai is much better. The service was fine and everyone was lovely , however we were really rushed through our meal. I appreciate London has the norm for 2 h seatings but it was really crazy how we were pushed out. Didn’t even have time to get dessert or even ask about it before our bill was brought to the table ( without us asking ) . We had drinks upstairs after, but the crowd was “gross London“ and the music was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think. The restaurant crowd was actually better than the typical Mayfair places, so that was nice. Nice if you want a dress up evening and clean toilets etc but as usual - over rated. Wasn’t enough time to catch up with my friends even though we sat down and ordered drinks within the first 10 mins and meals within the first 15/20. Another London restaurant herding cattle !
Top-end Greek cuisine in the heart of London!
Notwithstanding from all pricing comments - this is an absolute Top of Greek cuisine in the heart of London (with its own twist)!!! From food through vino’s selection to friendly and intuitive service, this place is worth visiting and being spoiled at all planes! We will surely be back!!!
Food was good but service was SLOW!!
Yes food was tasty, overpriced as expected! Crowd is better than cheesy bacchanalia, sexy fish and similar Mayfair spots. Service could definitely be quicker. Decor is nice and tasteful. 3 stars because of the very slow service.
Gorgeous restaurant and amazing food!
Beautiful decor, amazing authentic greek food and ingredients and brilliant staff. The manager, Angelos was very friendly and attentive. We tried array of cocktails and food, my favourites being the Santorini Spritz and seafood Orzo…absolutely delicious! Definately visiting again. Cost was about £170 per head including cocktails, wine, starters, mains and desserts.
TERRIBLE SERVICE AND RUDE WAITERS
Absolutely TERRIBLE service. Waiters are extremely rude and share no hospitality. They spilled our wine, would pour still and sparkling water in one cup without asking for preferences. Would take our plates away even when one was not done eating, in hopes of getting rid of us. They refused to let us order another dessert as "we had to give the table” and would laugh at your face. Would address you in a rude tone. The only positive was the food, but honestly would never come back here nor recommend anyone to come here.
The most beautiful restaurant in Mayfair
Wow what a restaurant it has 3 floors top floor is the bar the second the restaurant the ground is the private members club! I have been waiting for this restaurant to come to London for years! The food didn’t disappoint the atmosphere was amazing then service was incredible! Highly recommended it’s insane.
Really top notch Greek food
Really great food actually. We’ve eaten a lot at other modern Greek places in london including Opso, Mazi, Meraku, Milos etc….Gaia is just as good as Opso in more plush surroundings, and the food is more interesting than nearby Milos which has lost its touch a bit. The fish is a bit on the expensive side (£175/kg for wild sea bass is really too much), but the execution of all dishes was spot on. The frozen green yoghurt / ice cream at the end was a particular highlight given dessert at Greek restaurants is usually the weak point. Service was generally efficient and friendly but the water top ups were a bit slow.
Really average and expensive
Overpriced, pretentious and order was wrong. How odd that in a fish restaurant with a lovely looking display they have no fish size for 1 person. Our steaks came medium when we ordered rare. Waiter was polite but order was wrong. Sides are offensively priced too. Won’t be returning for these prices.
Party booking
Came for friends Birthday, we were party of 12. I think we had 3/4 waiters attending to our table at anyone time. We had the Sea Bream Carpaccio which is divine with various oils. We had Greek salad, vine leaves & dips beautiful tarasmosalata. We had oysters. I think our table prob ordered too many starters. The whole prawn starter in oil is divine. I thought all of it was nice bar the lobster pasta I thought it was a little bland/dry. The desserts were divine baked Yougurt & the baklava style desert with filo pastry sheets. Great vibe for birthday meal & cocktails were yummy but it it’s pricey. We went to the lounge downstairs after & loved the music & vibe there
Amazing restaurant
Really lovely restaurant and lovely bunch of human being situated at this lovely restaurant in Mayfair. Had a trip out with the lads and thought everyone was extremely nice. Also lovely food! Food a bit pricy but was absolutely amazing! Especially loved their French fries! They had batter on them and were also freshly seasoned they had got their seasoning from the lively farm in Sussex! Lovely restaurant! And defo will be back! Salut
