Nice ambience, delicious food, and great service! I loved
Nice ambience, delicious food, and great service! I loved the little robots that brought our food out. I came on a Sunday and they had a special going on-- Beef Wellington. I had never tried this dish prior to coming here, but it was really delicious (9/10). Other than the beef Wellington, we also ordered stardust fries (9/10), shishito peppers (8.5/10), Texas ribeye (9/10).
Loved this place.
11pm reservation on a Friday meant prime time for 6th street. The door is unmarked and instructions included in the reservation details. After using the call button, waited a few before the door opened to confirm reservation. She disappears for a moment then returns to open the door. Quaint place inside with limited seating. She informed us the location used to be a brothel and love that history. Their menu was a cute book which provided the ingredients. Fun note, the table lamps are touch lamps that change colors. We had a good time messing with those. The drinks were delicious and strong. No complaints. Restrooms were clean and simple. There are a few rooms on the way that were old guest rooms so you could see the size.
Midnight Cowboy is everything I imagined it would be and
Midnight Cowboy is everything I imagined it would be and more! A speakeasy always adds to the fun of a night out and this is one of the coolest I've been to. When you make a reservation (this is a must) you're given a name to select on the callbox. Buzz the name and the host will let you in. I was served by Holly and what a gem she is! She walks you through the menu and describes how the staff came up with all of the concoctions. There's quite a bit to choose from so use the table of contents! I had their take on the old fashioned, the King of Cups, and let me tell you, that puppy was STRONG but balanced. Truly one of the most unique old fashioned I've had. The presentation was top-notch with a smoked serving tray. 10/10 cocktail. (Pssst, this one drink is over 32% so keep that in mind) The next drink I ordered was the Elixir of Love, which is a more floral take on the aperol spritz. I had the pleasure of having this made table side and it just enhanced the experience. All cocktails are around $20 each but to me, the expeeience, atmosphere, service, and overall abv makes this more than a reasonably priced experience. With the setting being so intimate, it'll never be too loud either, so this is a perfect date night spot or place to end the evening. It's great for small groups, dates, or the solo traveller (like me!) If you can, ask for Holly! She'll take the experience to the next level.
A must visit on 6th street.
Excellent service and drinks! We didn't have reservations and they still seated us. A hidden gem.
Amazing speakeasy! At first I was MAD.
Cuz my friend took me to the dirty 6 and I was like m'am we ain't in highschool or college anymore why we here and it's apparently this door where you buzz to go in. The decor was super cool. The theme we stumbled was arcana so each drink was based on a tarot. The one that called out to me was death for its transformation. Service was also amazing. Each bartender or worker creates 4-5 of the drinks listed so they are very knowledgeable about the drinks. I think the next theme is monsters. I forgot. Overall great time.

Super interesting, old world building with tons of speakeasy vibe you're looking for. HOWEVER, cocktails and staff may need a little boost in new management to take this establishment up to the price they're charging for a cocktail, especially with auto-gratuity for not overwhelmingly cordial staffing. Drinks had the laundry list of ingredients you'd expect in a complex cocktail but lack the correct chemistry. Need to send mixologist to other high tier cocktail bars in larger cities and then bring back those recipes and craftsmanship. Complex cocktails is an art and they haven't found the magic formula here...yet. But there's so much potential! We wanted this to be an anomaly on 6th Street Austin but pass for now and give them some more time to mature.

Came in with a group of 6 and we had an absolute blast! We were sat in the back private room and the drinks were amazing. Service was phenomenal and I highly recommend anyone looking for a great night out!

Service was top notch! Drinks were off the charts! The ambiance was spot on to what I imagined speakeasy's were like back in the day.
This place accepts reservations so that's why we went here
This place accepts reservations so that's why we went here and it was recommended to me by locals, finding it was fun. The cocktails and menu were interesting but I'm fairly certain they batch almost everything because I tried to swap a liquor out (I don't care for tequila) and she said it wasn't possible. Also the cocktails came out super fast so that's another indicator... The staff wasn't rude but also not friendly... auto gratuity so that's probably why. Cocktail craft was kind of lost at this place. Definitely more exciting place for elevated cocktails than anywhere on sixth but I'd probably skip it.
Not sure if this felt like a true speakeasy but glad we
Not sure if this felt like a true speakeasy but glad we checked it out. We did need a reservation and there was a bit of a wait but the place is pretty tiny so I can see why. The drinks are ok. Service is ok and gratuity was included which seemed to explain why staff wasn't around much. Decor inside is neat and the history of the place is interesting.
I don't ever need another bar again.
I just need this bar in every city I love. - private rooms - exceptional drinks - history - bartenders you enjoy Serious fucking drinks. Love.

Wanted to checkout this place from long time, and when I saw they have been voted as best speaksy bar, decided not to wait anymore and made the reservations. Service was exceptional, cocktails beyond exceptional, ambience was cozy, kinda intimate than speaksy, We tried 4 different cocktails and loved it all, don't remember the names though. overall definitely give it a try for an unforgettable cocktail experience!!

We made a reservation for a birthday 2 weeks in advance and they canceled on us 20 minutes prior without notice. The guy that let us know out front was rude about it as well.
Great speakeasy experience and great drinks.
Very eclectic drink menu and the waiter is very helpful with selections. We were all a big adventurous with our choices and I unfortunately don't remember the names of our drinks. But there are pics in the menu you can match them up to. A couple of these were made table side and they explain the process as they do it. You have to have a reservation to get in, and it is a nice, quiet environment among the bustle of 6th st.
Have been here multiple times, each has been a fun time.
We usually book a back room, without giving too much away, it comes with a small presentation/show which is entertaining and informative regarding the drinks you have chosen. You will need reservations for larger groups, I would honestly not go more than 6 (it's tight even then), if the outside light is on you can probably get in for smaller groups. It's one of the OG Speakeasies in ATX so will have my patronage when we looking for this kind of experience.
My husband and I love a good speakeasy.
I found this on the visit Austin page (I believe). And we loved every minute of our experience. From trying to find the place, to the entire mood and ambience, and the cocktails we received. The service was amazing as well. Super nice and helpful. The experience was so awesome that I didn't want to leave. Best bar in Austin.
If you have red about this place, then you should know that
If you have red about this place, then you should know that this place used to be a brothel, and it has a pretty interesting history. The staff is very knowledgeable of the history of the location. And if you are looking for the code to go to the redheaded stepchild, they also know it. We had a total of six people so we have made reservations ahead of time, and we were actually in one of the rooms where apparently was where service was taken place back in the days. The room, however, is quite small even for six people. The place definitely has a vibe as it is very dim and it also maintain a lot of historical features. We have not tried their food, however, we ordered drinks and the drinks did not disappoint. The drinks were good and the service was amazing. Definitely recommend this place but make sure to make a reservation if you have a big party.
My boyfriend and i made a reservation for 11 pm on Saturday
My boyfriend and i made a reservation for 11 pm on Saturday for his birthday, I'm not from Texas so he was excited to take me to my first speakeasy and show me around, he chose you. We hit our buzzer waited for a while and then a group of girls came after us and got seated first, okay that's fine we were finally seated at 11:10. Our server came and greeted us seemed very nice gave her speech and said she'd be back. After sitting at the table for another 25 minutes no one came back and we eventually walked out at 11:37. I'm in the service industry and realize things happen but it wasn't very busy and there was multiple staff members working.
A cool speakeasy.
Morbid history. The cocktails were all very unique. It was cool that we got to see our server make the mushroom cocktail in front of us. We enjoyed our time here.
We had a reservation for this bar at 10PM that we made
We had a reservation for this bar at 10PM that we made weeks in advance for our trip to Austin. The day of the reservation we emailed them asking to move it to 10:30 because we were worried our dinner plans would cut it too close. Actually, our dinner ended early and we tried to get in at 9:30 instead but they said they were full and to come back at 10:00. We came back at 10;00 and they said they were still full and to come back at 10:30. We came back at 10:30 as we were told and then waited to get seated; we were taken to seats in a pretty much empty bar with only two other tables filled after waiting an hour. As we were looking at the menus, a waiter came to our table and said he felt like we were over-served at other places and they needed us to leave without much explanation. We were very upset and had put a deposit down for the reservation that we demanded be refunded. We felt we were pushed out so staff could go home early. Will never go back or recommend this bar after our hours waiting with no service:
Neat atmosphere and thoughtfully crafted drinks
We went to Midnight Cowboy after reading about it online. The speakeasy seems to be cool, with interesting drinks, and a great history. We had a reservation. It took us a minute to figure out how to get in, but once we passed "the guard," we were promptly seated. The menu is elaborated, and we definitely needed some help identifying what we might enjoy. We ordered a couple based on the waiter's recommendation, and we liked both very much. Very neat atmosphere and very thoughtfully crafted drinks. Check it out!
Good but pricey
Really loved the decor and history or Midnight Cowboy as well as the really quaint and secret way you enter. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming and the drinks were really good. A little on the pricey side though - $89 for 4 cocktails.

Reservation late Sunday afternoon, we got lucky and we're seated in a private room. Small, cozy, fun. Great quiet atmosphere. We had several drinks made doorside from the cart, everything was delicious!! My personal fav was the Jackalope, but any and all you can't go wrong. Mork & Mindy were delightful hosts & mixologists thanks y'all!

drinks: Midnight Cowboy continues to be one of my favorite speakeasies! All their cocktails are fun and interesting. I love the table side cocktails they do for some of their drinks. It's fun to learn to details of a seemingly simply cocktail. logistics: We came on a Friday around 5:30 pm as walk-ins. It's a bit hard to find but it's the door with the red lightbulb. We rang the doorbell and it took a while for them to open so just be patient. Luckily, we were able to get seated for an hour before a reservation showed up. So glad they were able to fit us! During this time, there was plenty of street parking near 6th. I don't love the reservation system. You have to put a $20 deposit and there's not an option to modify your time. I understand why this is done, but it's sometimes a pain when we accidentally book the wrong time.
Very atmospheric lil speakeasy hidden away on raucous party
Very atmospheric lil speakeasy hidden away on raucous party street. Have to find the unmarked door and hit the right entry button for admittance--something the other three parties seeking entry around us didn't seem privy to? Once I buzzed, we were all let in, group by group. Drinks were solid, server entertaining, ambiance kind of a cool shabby chic that I dug. Nice cushy booths. Sumptuously satisfying crystal water vessels. QR code menu. Definitely a tinge of old west saloon vibe, but classy/upscale. Very mixed crowd, from K-pop hipsters to metalheads to bachelorettes to us (old normals, I guess we'd be?)....Nom du guerre drink was a fun tableside presentation. Highly recommend. Acqua delinea was fave drink of the night (and maybe if the whole Austin vacation!)Only complaint: hard to get a reservation but then there were PLENTY of open tables inside. Seems to be the norm in Austin. Guessing due to short staff but there were 4 employees and, like, 5 tables total, and this was at midnight which was the only entry x we could secure!
Loved finding this super secret Speakeasy while visiting
Loved finding this super secret Speakeasy while visiting Austin. My friends thought I was crazy when we stopped by a small little door on busy 6th street. The place has an interesting back story, a cool vibe, and the drinks were on point.

We were excited to try this highly praised speakeasy, and the entrance lived up to the speakeasy name - with a nondescript door/buzzer situation. The space inside is dimly lit with leather booths. It's sort of a strange set up with the booths being lined up vertically, so you feel like you are each almost in separate rooms. It doesn't make for a very communal atmosphere, and it is impossible to see the bar, but if you want your privacy - you definitely have it. The server was clear and descriptive in describing the drinks and trying to find a fit. We ordered, with guidance, the Clara Rosa and the De La Rosa - since we said we wanted drinks without much sweetness. The De La Rosa was not my favorite, but it was nice that it was made at our table and each of the ingredients were described. However, the Clara Rosa was quite nice and had a refreshing taste. Overall, fun for the speakeasy vibe, but not sure the drinks blew us away. May have to go back to try some of the others :).
All I can say is wow.
I'm a cocktail nerd and a whiskey hound. I expect good, hope for great, and usually accept "perfectly fine." But... The cocktails I had tonight were epic, and the education I got from Kayleigh was extraordinary. She's awesome. The drinks are incredible. Wow. 10/10 recommend.

Great place! Didn't have reservation ( which are highly recommended), we were able to gain entry regardless. Had amazing service with Forrest, and were treated to unique delicious craft cocktails. Will definitely make a reservation and plan on making it a regular evening stop when back in Austin!
It's a must to have a reservation.
The drinks were absolutely incredible and all had a unique twist to them. There are specific drinks on the menu that the bartenders will bring a cart out and make in front of you, which was a wonderful experience because the servers went into detail about what each ingredient brought to the drink, giving each cocktail more meaning. For our reservation we were put in one of the more private rooms, with details of exposed brick that has been there for over 220 years. There is so much history in the establishment, it's definitely worth an ask to learn the story of Midnight Cowboy.
Great little find.
Great experience, wasn’t what I expected and love the history of the bar. Service was really good. Tried two different cocktails each. All very unusual and a required taste.
Beautiful hidden oasis with cool history among the Dirty 6
Beautiful hidden oasis with cool history among the Dirty 6 madness. Sadly, drinks do not live up to the hype. My friend and I each ordered different drinks. He said his was just ok, and mine was so saccharine sweet that it was undrinkable. The staff was very kind to make another. The 2nd was drinkable, but best summed up as meh. You can find much better craft cocktails for the price. She's pretty, but there's not much more than meets the eye!
A cool little spot, small, private, lots of history.
A very cool story behind it, ripe with debauchery. Drinks were unique and whatever I had, can't recall the name, was delicious. My only complaint is they seem to be trying too hard and the term hipster comes to mind. It is definitely worth a quick stop. Reservations are recommended. You have to know where to go. It is not marked on the outside, purposefully to add the the prohibition feel.
