5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Joe A on 07/04/2024

I was more surprised than ever at the negative reviews which were completely contrary to the food, drinks and service we enjoyed. There was not one morsel that was not unique, extraordinary and completely contrary to the reality pf what we experienced.

Beautiful bar at the St Regis.

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Paige D. on 05/19/2024

Opposite ambiance of the restaurant downstairs, Tre Dita which is very dark, sexy and moody, Miru is bright, open and vibrant. A beautiful space to have a cocktail and overlook the river. Service was perfectly attentive. Got the matcha cocktail and it was divine. So refreshing and perfectly matching the vibe of the bar. Can't wait to try some food next time. Got really busy around 5-6pm on a Friday, would recommend getting there early for a bar seat or make a reservation. Same with Tre Dita.

Beautiful decor and building and set up, nice service. But somehow food is only ok; and quickly a place of noisy gathering already? Maybe because it is Mother's Day. I have expected to have a quite time for lunch. Ordered lobster spring roll and came out fried! Pls don't eat fried food!

.. you are welcome as soon as the elevator door opens.. facing the Chicago River! The view is undeniably gorgeous. I love all the unique drink options, but their dessert sold us to try. The Chocolate Silk Tart.. at first look I wasn't super crazy about it but the combination, texture, and taste were like an adventure with so much dimension, totally need to save room. We loved the spicy bluefin tuna crispy rice and the smoked pork belly. The pork was nicely smoked but not overpowering. I also wanted something light so we offered the hamachi ponzu maki and it was perfect light and fresh.

We came here for brunch and were immediately wowed by the scenery. Super happy we were sat next to the window for the great view. Tip of the cap to the staff who were kind enough to hold our table and talk us through how to find the restaurant too. We started with drinks and the Pork Belly Croquettes and Lobster Spring Rolls. We also got the salmon Tokyo breakfast, which was a nice change of pace for brunch. The desserts were the wow, honestly. We got the Coconut-Mango and the Black Sesame Mochi. Both were beautiful and delicious. Everything was delicious and service was perfect.

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Harry G. on 05/06/2024

The food here at Miru was absolutely delicious, the service was impeccable. We tried quite a few different menu items, none of which disappointed. Sushi was very good, and the pork fried rice had wonderfully cooked pork. We especially loved the black sesame mochi dessert. Overall, creative Japanese fusion with options for everyone. Service was absolutely friendly and attentive but also knowledgeable about the details of every dish and wines as well. Would highly recommend this restaurant to others. Food was well prepared, fresh, exceptionally plated, and flavors melted together seamlessly. Thank you, Miru!

5 stars because it was hit or miss and not filling. The server provided stellar service and the ambience/ windows views were beautiful, added that they provided me with a Birthday card and a free dessert for my birthday, I give this place 4 stars!! My friends and I ordered the Crispy rice bluefin tuna, Smoked pork belly skewer apple cider glaze, Chicken karaage honey mustard, Sweet shrimp and Crispy Pork fried rice. I like that the rice was semi crispy and the tuna provided a nice salty flavor to the food and it wasn't fishy but it was kind of bland. The smoked pork skewer was delicious melt in my mouth, some pieces were salty compared to others though. The sweet shrimp really tasted sweet and fresh. The crispy rice was also tasty but had little portions with barely any crispy pork. I would maybe go back to order dessert and see the views from the terrace!

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Colleen B. on 04/27/2024

Miru is aiming for a Michelin star and has a way to go! It took them almost ten minutes to get us our drinks and said the bar was "backed up." The food is delicious but the service is lacking. Our server was MIA. Our drinks were empty for a while with no one asking anything. The runners were great delivering the food to the table. However, once the server took our order he was no where to be found. The restaurant is too expensive to have lack luster service. We had to flag a random server down to get our check since our sever was so inattentive to our needs.

If you want to go to a fancy Japanese restaurant, you can't go wrong here. Miru has the ambiance, the service, the views and the food were all stellar. We tried a little bit of everything, the spinach and eggplant dishes were outstanding. The spinach was so flavorful and the little rounds of eggplant were tender and smoky and sweet. We also had few sushi rolls which were all very delicious and well prepared. We finished with the crispy mushroom rice and the fried rock shrimp. I would definitely get these two to end the meal, the tender mushrooms were a great combination of the fried crispy shrimp with a spicy Mayo sauce. If you want to go someplace fancy to celebrate or just a very happening dinner spot, this is it.

My party of 4 didn't have to wait too long for a spot. I ordered the matcha cocktail with egg whites. I love egg white drinks. And this drink was amazing! It was a perfect mix of refreshing, sorta sweet and overall delicious. We ordered toro, spicy tuna, and hamachi. It was okay. It wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be. I'll definitely come back here for the drinks and the view!

I experienced Miru during restaurant week.

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Lillie B. on 04/21/2024

My friends and I choose a restaurant or two every year to try and Miru had the best deal/ offerings. I will say finding this place was difficult and the parking wasn't amazing; I would suggest using a ride share app. The restraint was absolutely stunning and I heard during the summer the patio views are even better. The food was delicious. I'm not a huge fan of sushi but the build your own sushi kit was a fun time with my friends. The steak melted like butter in my mouth. We ordered extra rice and it was a fan favorite. The chocolate cake was a tad bit dry but other than that the meal was great. The expresso martini was very tasty but on the smaller side.

Miru is a beautiful restaurant and they have overlooking views at the lake and river. We had breakfast both mornings of our stay and each time was a fantastic experience. Our server was amazing, very helpful in providing suggestions and attentive without being intrusive. We had the Tokyo breakfast the first morning which was amazing! The second morning had the Japanese breakfast with eggplant, I had the coconut chia pudding and we shared the grilled avocado. Every dish was delicious, made to order, and unique. They have a very spacious restaurant with great ambiance in door and out door. The service staff are knowledgeable about the food they served and they are very service minded. I would definitely go back here again and again. Can't wait to try other dishes and explore their menu.

What else do you expect from a lettuce restaurant? The service is exceptional, the food amazing, with one of the best views in the city. It's a slam dunk. I must say, Miru gave an upscale and classy ambiance making it the perfect spot for an evening gathering with friends. Great location to overlook the city (when it's warm out the patio is open). Had the Wild Mushroom Sizzling Rice Vegetable Dashi and it was very tasty. Keep in mind, dishes come out in the order they are prepared which was a little inconvenient in our party, but the server did explain this and which dishes we can expect to come out when.

They have a special Asian menu. We had the bao. Two steamed butterflied mantou buns with a gorgeous poached egg with huge yolk and dressed with bacon and onion slivers and sauce. Super yummy. Others had the okonamiyaki which was really good. Not crispy though like I expected. And pork fried rice which was finished at the table. The server mixed the rice in a brass cooking bowl. Not as much pork belly as we expected. The service is outstanding. Prices are steep but the 11th floor view is amazing

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @John S. on 04/07/2024

Great new addition to the Chicago reataurant scene, and bonus points for being part of the Lettuce group. We ordered a mix of things to share for two and left very full, so portions were on point. I only wish the maki roll was a tad larger, although the fish was great quality and their soy sauce is really good. Don't sleep on the whole snapper, it's a huge shareable portion of crispy and flaky fish with a delicious sauce that paired well with the crispy pork fried rice. The drinks were good, not overly strong but just right. Service was fantastic and very attentive. The views and vibe are unmatched for the area. Finally, we were celebrating a birthday and they had a birthday note on the table and brought a free birthday dessert, which was a nice touch!

Spectacular!! Perfect place for a girls night, date night, special occasion, or to bring out of town guests. The restaurant faces north, and you can see the river and Navy Pier. Their patio must be stunning when it's warm! Had hesitation coming here initially, but so glad we came here to celebrate my birthday. The service was incredible, great wine selection, and they were so accommodating when we had issues getting there on lower wacker. Sushi was fresh and would recommend getting the sashimi. Great selection and we had an ample amount of food. The crispy fried rice had more of a mushy texture (which I actually prefer), but it definitely a show stopper. It didn't have as much protein as we'd like, but what can you do :)

Bad waiter with no clue of menu!

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Blogatrixx on 03/04/2024

I was compelled to write because I was just angry at the level of service with the waiter at the bar. I orderded the eggplant skewer on the lunch menu although I did hesitate because when I asked the waiter what the "schimi" was, he said, "it's just eggplant." Well, when I got the order the thick paste of the sauce on there was spicy and super thick and salty. It was not "just eggplant" at all. In addition, it was cold. I forced myself to eat it as I was hungy and truly needed to eat but not once did the waiter even ask me how it was. The restaurant was not busy as it was a Monday so for the level of service that the St. Regis is supposed to be, I was extremely disappointed. Even when I asked for the bill the waiter didn't ask if I liked my lunch. I wanted to coach him on how he might answer to another customer asking the same question about the sauce but I guess he didn't care. Also, the music was ridiculously loud and I see that others thought so, too. I was compelled to write because spending over $50 for lunch (for one person) in Chicago should be a decent experience, not a highly disappointing one. There are way too many great restaurants in the city to waste over $50 on poor service! This was my second time here and I will never go there again.

So close, and yet so far -- from satisfying

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @gnetwerker on 11/25/2023

We had high hopes for this elegant restaurant high in the St Regis hotel on Chicago's Riverwalk. TL,DR: good food, bad service, outrageous prices. We were worried from the moment we stepped in, as the pounding bass of EDM dance music was the dominant sound, to the point where we had to shout to be heard by the front staff. But having a reservation, we were seated quickly. The menu is mostly sushi or sushi-adjacent, with a couple of fusion dishes thrown in. More about the food later. The service was initially both fawning and insistent -- rather than order a course at a time (as one often does in sushi places), the waiter insisted we order all at once and "he would take care of the pacing". Well, this was a giant FAIL. He mostly disappeared, and dishes started appearing more or less randomly, at first too soon and then (when we commented) hardly at all. The side dish we order to start came at the end of the meal. Wine refills were wholly disconnected from when dishes arrived, and you couldn't call anything a "course" -- the nigiri appeared one plate at a time versus as a group, and one dish never arrived at all. Requests for tamari (gluten-free soy sauce) went unanswered for ~ 20 minutes. The service consists of the nominal waiters, various food-runners who know nothing and can do nothing, and young women in sneakers whose function I never learned. Everyone has a Secret-Service style earpiece which in no way makes anything more efficient. No coatroom -- nearly December in Chicago and your coat goes on the back of your chair. So, in summary: thumping bassline, bad but inconsistent service, super-high prices, wine list marked-up over the moon. But also, nice views, and the food, when it came, was mostly good and occasionally excellent. Probably intended mostly for the see-and-be-seen crowd, some several decades younger than ourselves. With tip, nearly four Benjamins for two. A travesty really, it would be easy for them to do better, but that's not what they're aiming for.

SLOW AND OVERPRICED.

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @happygolucky4 on 10/06/2023

Food and drink were delicious, view is nice, room is elegant, euro beat music in the background but the service was minimal. There were about three other tables when two of us arrived for our 12:30 lunch reservation. Lots of staff milling around. Water came promptly. Then, drinks order was taken, then, we waited. About ten minutes later drinks came and our waiter was leaving when we said we would like to order. We shared a Samurai salad and it was absolutely perfection. Then, my friend had Tempura Shrimp Maki and I had the Duck confit noodles. My friends Maki came out, and finally she started to eat. She was finished by the time mine came out about 25 minutes later. All the time our waiter wasn't to be seen. No offer of a second drink, no water refill, no assurance any thing was coming and absolutely no sense of urgency. Huge restaurant, not busy at all but the table right next to us was seated when we arrived, they left, another lady came and had a meal and left, and a third party came and sat down. That table had a different server. We had to ask for dessert and tea, When I made the reservation they asked if we were celebrating anything special and I told them it was both of our birthday lunch. No mention was made and no acknowledgment. not even a candle in the dessert we had to find someone to order. Why did they even ask?. The staff here seem more concerned with drifting around looking trendy. We arrived at 12:30 and left at 2:40. And frankly the prices are on the high side. Don't come here if you have any other plans for the day. Do better Lettuce.

So disappointing

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Shampeu on 09/11/2023

I was so excited for this reservation. We are loyal Lettuce Entertain You members and read all the hype around this new restaurant. Pros: the view is spectacular. The outside terrace is massive and the restaurant provides blankets on chilly nights. Some of the dishes were great- homemade miso soup, the avocado crispy rice, the salmon and truffle, the bluefin tuna, the crispy shiso, and the black sesame mochi. Cons: the service was awful. We barely saw our waiter though he seemed to always be at the table next to us. He was very attentive to them yet never came to see if dishes came out of the kitchen, if we needed more drinks, etc. There were very few waitstaff anywhere. We had to go inside if we needed anything. The first dishes came out quickly, then there was a definite lag. My husband's entree came out after we were done with all of our other dishes. We had to ask if the dish was coming at all. When we finally got our waiter's attention, he seemed genuinely annoyed that we needed anything. Many of the dishes were tasteless including the hamachi ponzu roll, the triple tuna roll, the wild mushroom sizzling rice, and the coconut mango dessert. This dessert was slopped on our plate- it literally looked like the dish fell and someone stuck it all back on a plate. This restaurant is very expensive. At this level we expected way better food and way better service. Lettuce Entertain You is known for their impeccable service; someone needs to retrain this staff.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Excellent dining experience. The food is phenomenal and the dining room is stunning. I think service might still need a bit of work - they were slammed but not every table was taken. Drinks from the bar took a long time as it was a happening place and our server tended to be missing for long periods - but the food kept coming out. We worked our way thru both the drink list and the menu. Definitely try Crispy Pork Fried Rice & Hamachi Ponzu! I particularly liked the A5 Wagyu Tartare. And if you're looking for a non-seafood option the Roasted Chicken Breast skewer is a great choice. The drinks were as tasty as they were nice to look at. All in all - a wonderful dining experience.

Delightful birthday dinner

5/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Wendy B on 08/22/2023

I made a reservation for a table on the terrace over a month in advance for a birthday dinner. We lucked out because it was a gorgeous summer night. The views are truly stunning, both at sunset and as the lights come on in the surrounding buildings and at Navy Pier. It's breezy up there with temps maybe 10 degrees cooler than at street level, so it's wise to bring a jacket or wrap. The restaurant has a limited number of fleece throws you can use to wrap up in if needed. Early reviews of Miru suggested that service wasn't up to snuff but we found it to be cordial and polished. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, helpful in choosing dishes and charming. Plates and cutlery were replaced several times, water glasses were kept filled, food was coursed out appropriately. My only quibble is that since dishes are meant to be shared, they should have brought an implement to split our miso black cod; chopsticks were not up to the task but when requested, we got knives and forks. The food was delicious. We shared everything. The spinach ohitashi was surprisingly good in a zing-y thin mayonnaise (?) based sauce. We had lobster spring rolls (6 finger-sized ones to an order with lettuce leaves in which to wrap them) and a rice vinegar-based dipping sauce. The 3 nigiri sushi we shared (2 to an order) were pristine and with a good ratio of fish to rice. The mushroom sizzling rice came in a clay bowl, hot to the table and was delicious with the aforementioned miso black cod. There were 2 little dollops of a lime-flavored sauce for the cod which were delicious but hard to scoop up with chopsticks. Dessert was a calamansi creme brรปlรฉe, yummy. With one cocktail, dinner came to $220 with tax but before tip. There's a 3% surcharge added to the bill. Considering that Miru is in a 5-star hotel and that you are paying for the view, this seemed entirely reasonable. I did notice that the wine list had some pretty pricy offerings. We had a lovely time and left happy, if a bit chilled.

Large space with lots of windows with views of the city/lake. Hosts & server very friendly/appreciative, the sommelier (assuming thatโ€™s who the young blonde female was) extremely ungracious, almost hostile (she seemed angry). There were some lags in the service. Asian inspired food, with some excellent dishes; grilled avocado, shrimp fried rice, chocolate cake. The broccoli was flavorful, but slightly underdone; black cod a bit bland, eggplant uninspired, coconut cake wouldโ€™ve been nicer with a bigger piece of cake, and just the frozen mango accompaniment. By glass Champagnes are overpriced.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Miru Chicago at 6 PM the same day.

He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Miru Chicago page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $5.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $5.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FluffyStar64, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FluffyStar64 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FluffyStar64 for any questions Peter may have as FluffyStar64 user fills the bid.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* FluffyStar64 now uses their connections at Miru Chicago to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FluffyStar64 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.

4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FluffyStar64 receives the $5 reward which is credited to FluffyStar64's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Miru Chicago!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
