Nela Restaurant Amsterdam Reviews
Amazing
Recently had an amazing dinner here. I will say it is quite pricey. Numerous small dishes/appetizers ranging from 10-20 euros and larger live fire grilled dishes 30-40. They recommend about 3-4 dishes per person. So does add up but definitely worth it. Nearly everything we tried was truly fantastic from numerous vegetables (grilled corn, artichoke hearts, spinach, leeks) to lavash bread. The meat and fish were all cooked perfectly (would highly recommend boneless chicken wings and sea bass). Service was impeccable with highly attentive waiters who were always there when we needed but not intrusive. Atmosphere more for adults but does have a few things to accommodate children (roast bread, pizza, grilled meats/chicken).
Fantastic dining experience
Super restaurant! From the moment you arrive you realise you’re in for a dining experience and the decor is fantastic, with the open kitchens a treat to watch. The waiting staff were really helpful at explaining the menu, which is more geared around sharing plates than meals, and with their advice it worked perfectly. Both presentation and flavours were exceptional, and the only challenge became not continually ordering too much! The staff were great at keeping drinks topped up and the choice of wines available was good, all at sensible prices too. Next time I’m in the city I’ll be coming back here and highly recommend for a more special group experience!
Pushy
Beautiful restaurant. A bit pushy with everything: if you don’t reply to our email now we will cancel your reservation! But we paid in advance? Duh? Do you want another drink? Do want more food? Pushy. They totally forgot us! No food. We had to ask three times. No one apologized. The food is nice. The meat is boring so order starters and desserts, more interesting and less expensive. The music is really loud so don’t go if you want to talk!
lot of veg options with amazing ambience and service
this is one restaurant where a family of 4 can have 12 dishes. the bite size portions gives u a chance to try so many new things. they had at least 15 veg options for us to choose from and I think we were full after we tried 10 to 12 of them. there was a desert peach crumble it was amazing. the lava cake dessert was ok but u could get that anywhere. the ambience was amazing. our server miguel was amazing too. the pizzas were not that great. the parking in the building is 27 euros so park outside if u can.
Avoid this place
Firstly the location, we drive an hour with an expectation that we would be eating in Amsterdam. The restaurant is on the outskirts of the city, no ambience of environment. The website is misleading with cooking in fire. The food is dreadful and the worst meal I have experienced ever. There is no char or flavour on the food. The mushroom salad is mushrooms in bechamel sauce . The fish isn’t fresh. Don’t be sold on the menu. Such a shame that this is our holiday one night in Amsterdam.
Excellent Food and Service
Incredible food and service! Our waiter provided excellent recommendations. Some dishes we tried were the yellowtail, sea bream, and cheesecake—all of which were outstanding. The flavours were perfectly paired with well-crafted cocktails and a great bottle of wine. The service was top tier and it was a truly memorable dining experience.
The food doesn't make up for the service
Lovey restaurant with such promise, entering past the Basque cheesecakes and open fire kitchen. The food was just ok, arriving very sporadically throughout the meal, thrown down anywhere on the table and often between old plates that had been left a long time uncleared. Overall the service was the real letdown, very disappointing evening
