Rifugio dei Mele Laurito Reviews
Great Positano Dining Experience
La Taverna Del Leone is why you go Italy. Great service with no pretension, and fresh, high quality and delicious food. The staff here exhibits warmth, friendliness and an obvious focus on giving you a great dining experience. There is no shortage of Italian small town charm - this is a family run restaurant (with mom and son running the show), where the busboy also drove our shuttle back to the hotel. Following a few days of sub-par food and service in Capri, this restaurant was exactly what we wanted.
Service price and food outstanding
Let me start this by saying I hated the traffic in positano in fact I told my husband to turn around and leave. The only thing that saved us was our hotel staff at La Malissa which were wonderful. They recommended this resturant as well and it was fabulous. The resturant : 1. They sent a car to our hotel and picked us up and they were on time. 2. The driver was wonderful and spoke English as well. 3. We arrived at the restaurant and the staff were very professional and engaging 4. The service was impeccable. As soon as we were finished they changed all silverware and picked up plates promptly. 5. The FOOD was outstanding. They served a quiche as a sample and it was like a piece of heaven. It melted in my mouth. 6. The portions were perfect and the price was great! I can’t say enough good things about this place. The driver then returned us to our hotel safely and was very engaging even telling us about positano.
Exquisite food, ambience, and service
The food, service, and ambience are exceptional! The restaurant has a beautiful warm and classic interior design, and as you enter you are struck by the open kitchen with blue and white tiles. It is fun to watch the chefs as they prepare the food, and the pizzaiolo. Each course of food was delicious, including the pizza. The staff were attentive and polite.
Unfortunately, we didn't have a good time
To be brutally honest, it was the least satisfying dining experience of our three-week journey through Italy this year — an unpleasant surprise given the glowing reviews and Michelin Guide mention. The food itself was well-executed and flavorful, the interior of the restaurant was pleasant, yet the service was deeply disappointing - puzzling dissonance with the elegant table setting and beautiful food presentation that suggest a certain level of refinement and attention to details. Everything took way too long, starting from the time to be acknowledged and get drinks. Nobody cared if our water or wine needed replenishment and getting another bottle of water required a long wait and repeated requests as we rarely saw our waiter. A simple takeaway order that we requested for a family member, sidelined by a leg injury and unable to join us — that order was forgotten twice and arrived incomplete. This lack of attention was hard to explain considering that many customer reviews praised impeccable service. The course pacing was another example: some people in our group were served their main course while the others reduced to spectators as their companions ate. Thank god they decided to eat and not to wait for others, because the wait was so long that the meals were consumed and then we all sat for another twenty minutes before the rest of us finally received their plates. The roles reversed and the first part of the group spent time watching. After finishing our entrees, we lingered another 30 minutes before our waiter came by and took our desserts order - without any interest in doing so, I have to say. The dining room was nearly empty by then—a clear sign the staff were not overburdened. The wait for the check stretched on even longer -- the staff were cleaning other tables, moving around, talking, but didn’t pay any attention to us. At some point we almost lost hope and started to joke that they were going to close the shop and go home with us sitting there. By the time we finally left, our initial cheer had long since evaporated. The evening, filled mostly with the wait, had stretched beyond 3.5 hours—a ridiculous duration for a standard meal, not some elaborate multi-course affair. We travel a lot and we know that occasional slip-ups happen, but the repeated missteps suggested something more systemic. Some of us even genuinely wondered if we erred in some way and the staff’s neglect was intentional — a thought no guest should ever have. Sadly, even though the food well executed, the level of service overshadowed the kitchen’s effort and left us with frustration and no desire to return.
Best restaurant I have EVER eaten at!!!
Quite possibly the best meal I have ever eaten and all 3 of our kids and my wife felt the same! Our waiter Tony was absolutely fantastic and made the night more enjoyable. Everything from the Carpaccio, to the Pizza, to the unreal Lamb Ragu and Carpese Ravioli pasta were delicious...so delicious that we ordered more at the end of dinner! I can't recommend this restaurant enough! Great value, great staff and delicious
Overrated.
We were underwhelmed. We sat at our table for nearly half an hour before the waiter finally attended to us. While we enjoy a slow paced meal, we felt ignored. When the food came out, it was not well timed. This was one of the highest rated restaurants we attended and were quite disappointed.
Excellent food and experience
Our family tried the traditional tasing menu and it was excellent. If you want to get away from the crowd and have a more authentic experience this couldn’t be a better destination.
Wonderful dinner
Our family had a wonderful dinner. Service was great and the food was excellent. A driver from the restaurant picked us up in Positano (also took us back after dinner). The walk to meet the driver was beautiful as the sun was setting. We look forward to coming back.
Excellent dinner
We had a wonderful time at La Taverna Del Leone. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. It was fun getting the views of the open kitchen and seeing all the chefs hard at work. Food is delicious and it's very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend a visit here!
Alta qualità Made in Italy
High quality made in Italy, attention to all details, excellent food, very polite waiters. Excellent location facing the sea.
Highlight of my honeymoon
Came here on our honeymoon - my wife is vegan. You’d think it’d be nearly impossible to find a vegan meal here in positano … but enter Giuseppe and his team. Reservations at 7:45, we arrived early on a Saturday and were seated at 7:15. From the minute we sat down, we knew this would be the best meal we had in positano. My wife had vegetables, marinara pizza and a a salad I had the seafood plate and the palamida fish dish. I’ve never experienced such a thrill. Highly recommend. The wines!! The wines!! Ordered a bottle and then some more ! Giuseppe, my wife and i are going to name our first born after you!!! Come here. Come here asap!!
A very special restaurant
We visited this restaurant on our last evening in Positano. Wonderful warm atmosphere and delicious food. I highly recommend a visit. It was a wonderful way to end what was a special trip for us.
Esperienza Favolosa!
A friend of ours, Lorenzo, recommended La Taverna del Leone for dinner. The owner, Peppe, treated us like Royalty. The food was some of the best we had in all of Italy. Each course was wonderfully prepared, with a creatively-styled presentation, and absolutely delicious. The restaurant's ambience was warm and inviting. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant.
AMAZING DINNER
AMAZING FOOD AND GREAT ATMOSPHERE. WINE LIST WAS GREAT. SOME OF THE BEST FOOD WE HAD WHILE IN ITALY
The best restaurant dinner,service ,drinks!
What an amazing dinner! This restaurant was recommended by our B&B casa Nina and it was one of our favorite restaurants! The waitress was so patient! The food was delicious and I will highly recommend! I hope to go back one day!
Great dinner just outside of Positano
My husband and I ate here on our recent trip to Positano. This restaurant is outside of the main area and required a taxi. The food was delicious and everyone was friendly. Get the zucchini blossoms! The restaurant called a cab for us after dinner - unfortunately the cab did not arrive but then the restaurant drove us back to Positano in their car!
Best of my ten nights
We were all over the Italian coast for 10 nights. This was my most memorable and favorite meal in country. We had the 5 course tasting menu and every course was fantastic. This is a family owned and operated restaurant. The owner and his mom were most gracious.
Great food
Place is cozy. Service is great. Food is really delicious and dessert is great especially torrocino. Its michelin 2021
Fantastic restaurant with great service!
Best food of our entire trip. Very friendly and attentive staff. Perfect touches and presentation. Absolutely loved it!
Not to be missed!
Of the restaurants we dined at in the Positano area, this was the best. The fish, tagliolini and misto salad were all excellent. Definitely plan to go here if you are in the area. In fact go early in your stay so you can opt to dine here more than once!
