Sophia Steak Chicago Reviews
This steakhouse has a nice ambiance.
Service is friendly and quite fast. I started with a salad which was delicious. My filet was a bit overcooked with a burnt crisp around it. Not my favorite but wasn't terrible. My husband got the NY and his was cooked perfectly. I'd definitely go back for the desserts. They were the best part of my night here. The peanut butter pie is a must!
I really enjoyed this establishment for brunch.
Can't wait to go back and try the dinner menu.
Superior Happy Hour
Sophia Steak in River North offers an excellent happy hour menu seven days a week. The food snacks are quite tasty and the drinks include a classic martini, all offerings are priced at only $10. We have been here for the happy hour twice. Service was excellent on both occasions. The happy hour is only available from 4;30 to 5;30 in the bar and on a portion of the outdoor seating area.

We had high expectations walking into Sophia's, but left disappointed. Our reservation was for 4:30 PM , prime time for their happy hour menu (listed on their own website, 4:30-5:30). Once seated, we asked to order from it and were told it's only available at the bar or patio. Even after double-checking with two staff members, the answer was still no. No explanation, just "move seats if you want it." That makes zero sense and instantly soured the experience. We stayed put and ordered the wagyu steak skewers overly fatty and not enjoyable. The black Angus steak and salad were forgettable, and dessert ended up being the only thing worth mentioning. For the price point, we expected much more. Yes, the ambiance is beautiful. But strict policies + disappointing food = not worth it. Unfortunately, we won't be back.
Went for my daughters birthday everything I mean everything
Went for my daughters birthday everything I mean everything was good oh besides the roasted chicken it was bland besides that thou drinks was amazing my steak was cooked to perfection . Would definitely recommend !
I love this place.
I first had their food when my daughter brought home a doggie box with her leftover ginger rice. I loved that rice so much that I went the following week. I ordered ginger rice and coconut shrimp from the happy hour menu. We also had the potatoes with caviar, and the crispy lobster. All the food was great! The ambiance is great whether you sit inside or in the beautiful outdoor patio. The happy hour menu offers great drinks and small plates for $10.00. This is my new favorite venue and I definitely recommend that you try it.

We had a 6:45 Saturday reservation and were seated right on time.. a great start since weekend waits can drag at other spots in town. To kick things off, we shared the lobster tail appetizer. Simple but delicious..and exactly what I was hoping for. For mains, we shared the NY strip, which came out cooked exactly to temp: juicy, seasoned well, and packed with flavor in every bite. On the side we tried scallops and asparagus. The asparagus had that nice char and crunch you want with a truffle sauce on the side.. the scallops didn't hit the same high note for me and I'd probably swap them out next time. Beyond the food, I loved the setting. The interior strikes that balance between polished and comfortable with dim lighting, warm tones, and just enough buzz from other tables to make the space feel alive without being overwhelming. Perfect for a date night!

I love the ambiance of this spot especially the outside in the summer and fall. The patio is so calming in the city. The service is great and food is fantastic. The filet and lamb chomps were perfectly cooked medium rare. Presentation of food fits the beauty of the patio. One of my favorite spots.
Probably my favorite steakhouse in Chicago.
Prices are moderate and service is great. It doesn't have that fake manufactured feeling a lot of steakhouses have. This feels more like your fun cousin than your boring uncle. Menu items are classics with subtle twists. Drink options are great and many affordable wine options exist especially if you go by the bottle.
Pretty place.
Drinks were okay. Beverage manager Alex was very nice and helpful Caesar salad, NY Strip and peanut butter dessert is where it's at. Steak was really good in city full of solid steaks. W They have a homemade steak sauce that was great. Sides were a miss all together Was good but not great for the price. Likely won't return

The fried chicken special on Sunday night is fantastic! The portion is huge and comes with your choice of side and cornbread. Service was great and the patio was nice, although quite noisy from traffic and such. Will Definately be back to try another nightly special.
Sophia Steak finds its niche
Sophia Steak in Chicago is so new -- it opened on March 6 -- that TripAdvisor hasn't even discovered it -- until now. Oh, TripAdvisor is aware of Sophia Steak's other outlets in the north suburbs, the original steakhouse in Wilmette and Lake Forest, but the newest franchise at 751 North State Street, on the ground floor of the glitzy One Chicago Building, formerly the home of Gemini, is just beginning to make a reputation for itself. Lifelong friends Glenn Keefer and Ryan O'Donnell and John Farrer of Ballyhoo Hospitality have created an elegant and fashionable space with tall windows, leather booths, large chandeliers and valet parking. Open from 4:30 to 9:30 Sunday through Thursday and 4:30 to 10:30 on Friday and Saturday, Sophia Steak III has everything you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. I started with Colossal Black Tiger with Florida mustard and cocktail sauce, beef and veal meatballs with basil and grana padano, and Bill's Classic Caesar salad with battered breadcrumbs and parmesan. One of my favorite dishes, Branzino, is a Friday special but this is Thursday so I order a 14-ounce prime New York strip steak (after all, this is a steakhouse) with house steak sauce and bearnaise, sauteed mushrooms and whipped potatoes. For dessert, I can't resist sticky toffee bread pudding. Chicago is a steakhouse type of town and Sophia Steak is quickly finding its niche.
