Did takeout recently and it was great.
Salad and lasagna were plenty big for one meal and then I had the spaghetti and meatballs as well. We shared this as a family the next day because it was huge. Never disappointed in Stella's!

Still an amazing Richmond, classic, bustling, and a delight
Still an amazing Richmond, classic, bustling, and a delight to the senses. The food has always been remarkable, not above other Greek restaurants. Stella's recipes still appease the most finicky of appetites. We were seated at a table for two in the window and it was a cozy rainy night. Perfect. And the bread, can we talk about the bread! Amazing. We had a feast on the bread, calamari, and an oyster special that were absolutely phenomenal. I had the leg of lamb beautifully slow roasted, fall off the bone, incredible, with a hint of cinnamon and other spices it was heaven. The server was charming and helpful. The thing I find most interesting is it packed! Packed! And yet the service is spot on, and the food was perfect. If you haven't gone, go. Get your reservations now. If you have gone to any of the other earlier incarnations on Harrison or Main and Shields all of the magic here.

Definitely want to come back to Stella's! My friends and I were happy we were able to make a reservation here (since their reservations can get booked fast). We loved every dish. The Branzino fish had amazing flavor and was grilled perfectly. Also, the rice with the fish was delicious. The Greek salad with the feta cheese tasted very fresh. The restaurant has a rustic, classic ambiance inside. The server was also very attentive and kind. I want to go back to try more dishes!

Wonderful Greek cuisine with touches of European gurme dishes. Authentic taste of Mediterranean food made from fresh ingredients carefully selected from a great variety of different traditional resources. Experience fish especially!!!

The food at the place is okay sense I s been sitting on a shelf all day but overall it's really good for a store bought meal. I have been here many times I would recommend for dessert is the orange creamsicle ice cream sandwich it's probably the best in the store in my opinion. The ambiance is great depending on which store you go to but all them have an overall pretty good ambiance. The service is great even if it count as service since you walk in but something then leave or stay there and eat it, the line is never long at the store and I would recommend as a light dinner or lunch.

Fabulous Greek restaurant with flaming Saganaki brought to our table! We were so impressed by how well the cheese tasted. We also enjoyed fresh bread and Stella's olive oil. Oh so scrumptious! I had a full tentacle of octopus with seasoned lettuce while hubby had a a lamb gyro with a side of Lima beans accompanied by fennel and feta. Generous portions were served and we were so pleased! So happy to find this healthy place for lunch and we will return!

Kona suggested all the best dishes and said we should share. Best advice ever because the pasta dish was worth sharing and much larger than we expected (see photo for reference ) The branzino served over spinach rice was the best we have ever had!!!

and it was very flavorful and satisfying here. The fried smelts were a first time try, it was ok but glad to test them out, the sauce that came with it was complimentary to the fishy critters OHMYgoodness the Lamb Frites were a nice surprise and so comfortably filling. Will be back!
Stella's of Richmond has been around since 1983.
I'm ashamed it took me until 2022 to finally visit a culinary institution. Stella's story, in their own words, requires only two sentences. "In 1983, the first restaurant in her namesake opened doors on Harrison Street, just steps from the Village Cafe. After a successful run into the early 90's, the second iteration opened on Main Street in 1998, offering critically acclaimed eclectic cuisine." Stella's honors rustic and modern Greek cuisine bringing Mediterranean fare right to your table. They don't simply honor Greek cuisine they showcase it. Their grilled octopus is the standard by which all others are measured. Any Greek food item you enjoy or ever heard of is here! From moussaka, pastitsio, spanakopita and souvlaki to saganaki (cheese on fire), feta phyllo, keftedes (meatballs), and kotopoulo (oven baked chicken). To quote an old movie: "If they don't got it, you don't want it!" A word to the wise, the portions on some of the dishes are magnum in size. The No. 5 pasta for example could feed four small people or two big eaters. Personally, I would stick to their Greek classics for the ultimate experience. The grilled octopus is second to none and the basics like their spanakopita and saganaki are outstanding. Their sauteed calamari is zesty and clean. I tried the steak filet Mignon and it was quite underwhelming. Additionally, the moussaka was far too rich and I could only endure about three bites. That being said, stick to the Greek dishes and you'll see why Stella's is a Richmond dynasty.

10/10!! This was my second time going to Stella's, and it did not disappoint. Everything from the food, to the service, to the cocktails... Everything was wonderful. If you have not been, you have to!! Definitely one of the best restaurants in Richmond, hands down
Everything is amazing.
Go back to a time where food really meant something and did not come in a bag warmed up. This is real food. It's warm and comforting with a great bread on the side like grandma used to make. I will be back.

Stella's has been around for longer than me (50 years) and have always been very pleased with atmosphere quick service and good prices. Although the restaurant moved for parking and growth this doesn't stop the hard core regulars from making weekly visits.
Excellent service and the best Greek food I can remember
The service staff is top notch including the wait staff, door staff, and bartender. The food and drinks were excellent and reasonably priced.
Great Neighborhood Gem
Best restaurant and service by far in Richmond. Just outside of downtown a superior neighborhood gem!!! You could not ask for better service, cocktails were excellent, appetizers great, as well as main course, and dessert. If you like octopus this is must have. The leg of lamb over pasta was great. Everything was packed full of flavors. Our server Mike was on top of everything.

Stella's is my all time favorite Richmond Restaurant. You cannot go wrong because everyone is so friendly and they have an exciting vibe and fun place to be. It's always crowded with locals. Food is consistently great..although they have moved locations a few times, I have been coming here since the early 90's
Wonderful meal, excellent service
We did our research before traveling to Richmond and we saw the reviews of Stella's. We made reservations months ahead of time and were so glad we did. We had an amazingly awesome meal. We opted for a few appetizers as we didn't want leftovers. The main dish portions can be large. Excellent food and the staff were all very friendly and on top of their game. Nice experience!
Insider Tip
This is our go-to spot and we visit often for lunch and dinner, both for dining in the restaurant and for taking out prepared meals from Stella's market. Every dish of the many we've tried has been a hit, consistently flavorful and well-prepared. The dining room can be a little noisy but not as bad as some of our other local spots (I'm looking at you, Ulivetto.) Stella's is arguably Richmond's most popular restaurant so reservations are recommended; insider tip: you can walk in and try your luck at the community table. You'll not be disappointed!
Give it a try when in town
Food was very good, service good NOT great . . . we were in the OVERFLOW location next door in the clothing store, a bit eclectic but it works as it is MUCH more quite than the main area
If you miss this restaurant when visiting Richmond, shame on you!
This was my favorite restaurant by far in Richmond. The food is excellent and the amount is ridiculous. We had five different things and all were excellent! This is not the same old food. This is a must stop for a foodie.

Service was very helpful and on point. Food was well prepared and presented. Flaming Cheese, hummus and lamb frites were delicious.Moussaka was hot and tasty. Portions are big and there was more I wanted to try but will be back soon!
Fresh & clean
Excellent food and service. Clean, fresh Greek/Mediterranean restaurant. Arrived after a visit to the RMFA. We also visited the excellent market across the street.
Such an absolutely lovely experience.
We didn't have a reservation but we were seated at the bar immediately. The drinks are top notch! My old fashioned was delicious. Also the food was really great. Everything from the bread, to the pita, to the tasting platter. To top it all off, the space is cute, romantic, and the staff were all very friendly.
Everything was delish--the kreatopita especially stood out.

Went to Stella's last Friday for lunch.
. it never disappoints...but go with friends so you can order multiple meals to share. There is so much on their menu, but the portions are so big that you can only order one... the octopus appetizer is AMAZING! my friend, who had never had octopus told me she wanted to order it. Well, I almost fell off my seat, but was so happy that she loved it also. the fresh bread, and olive oil is so good perfect to go with your whole meal. For my lunch I ordered the KREATOPITA SPICED GROUND BEEF, A BLEND OF GRATED CHEESE& BECHAMEL, WRAPPED IN PHYLLO, SERVED WITH TZATZIKI so good and good the next day! My friend ordered the PAN SEARED SALMON SERVED WITH SPANAKORIZOThat's was sooo good ! And for dessert we ordered Baklava .. it was a CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT WITH SALTED CARAMEL GELATO... to be honest, I was disappointed there was no traditional baklava, and if it wasn't for the gelato, this baklava was very dry. The wines were great with everything we ordered!I can't wait to go again

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Stella's Henrico at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Stella's Henrico page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* DistinguishedTree58, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* DistinguishedTree58 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at Stella's Henrico to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, DistinguishedTree58 receives the $200 reward which is credited to DistinguishedTree58's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Stella's Henrico!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
