Summer Fondu
Sigi was wonderful. Can’t wait to come back!! Love Vail. Awesome adventure. Loved the beef and vegetables. Wine was great, cocktails were fabulous.
Amazing
Jackson was the best! He explain us everything about the food, he really care about us all time, the food amazing. Also the drinks! I will come back soon!
Like a dream!
A must go! Our server Sigi made our entire experience the most memorable ever! She was absolutely exceptional! Our table outside was perfect, and the food was fun, different and delicious. The most PERFECT way to celebrate our Anniversary. Thank you Sigi, please visit us in San Diego!
A wonderful evening and meal in Vail Village
We went to get fondue at this restaurant for my birthday. It was a very memorable meal. We sat outside enjoying the view. The fondue was delicious, accompanied by draft German beer! The waitress, Sigi, went out of her way to make a celebration of it. She checked on us often, making sure we had everything, even bringing some lap blankets in case it got cold! We would definitely go back and bring friends!
Wonderful
Wonderful restaurant and service. 5 stars! Sigi, our waitress was amazing and made the whole experience so authentic. One of our favorite restaurants ever!
Excellent birthday dinner-thanks Sigi!
We had an exceptional birthday dinner and experience. The service was perfect and the food fabulous. Our waitress Sigi was kind, generous, and attentive!
Swiss Chalet in Vail
Sigi was amazing. She’s from Bavaria and will steer you toward all the best choices on your order. Definitely try the Schapps to start the meal. The French Onion Soup was the best we’ve ever had. Cheers!!
A fun place to experience Bavarian fare.
It is convenient to get to from the Sonnenalp Inn. Our service was excellent and the food was delicious and unique, as it is not typical of what most restaurants serve.
The service was amazing.
Food (we got both kinds of cheese fondue) was amazing. We had a week in Vail and I wanted to go back here again, it was so good and such a fun experience!
Best meal in Vail!
Sigi made for an incredible meal!!!! Best dinner of our trip!!!!! Will certainly be back! Highly recommend the fondue and raspberry cocktail!!!
Really nice ambience, service is great! We order the
Really nice ambience, service is great! We order the cheese fondue, our fondue was rackette with a sherry base (which was delicious) we ordered it with sides: Beef medallions, lamb chops, and also had the assorted sausages with sauerkraut and pretzel bread. Chocolate fondue was good.
Great family meal
Great for a big, festive family meal. Sigi is the best server and she advised us on all of the best things to order for our group.

Amazing!
Amazing experience with Sigi as our server. Great recommendations and help with our order, delicious food, and perfect service. Thanks so much!
Highly recommend!
If I could give this place six stars I would! Warm and friendly atmosphere and excellent food. Sigi is one of the hardest working servers around. Kudos to the kitchen and hostess staff too!
Great for an entertaining evening
Fun and lively dinner. Guided by our server Sigi we experienced a tasting extravaganza. Fondue, schnitzel. Sausages, salads and strudel all enthusiastically presented. Atmosphere was very friendly and festive.
Dinner with Sigi
The dinner was really really good, everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Sigi was the best one 10/10 she gave us the best recommendations and the best service
Fun experience
Our waitress, Sigi, was wonderful! The food was great and it was a fun experience in a space that felt like an authentic Swiss experience in Vail.
Always love coming here when I'm in vail.
It's a must!! The cheese regular fondue is outstanding. Must get the apples and pears for sides. I would get a few rounds of it if you have multiple people. We had 6 people and I think got 5 or 6 orders but, 3 of those people were men who were hungry. Also, pro tip - get a side of steak or chicken as a little boost of protein. We got the sausage appetizer and it was really good. Three different types of sausages with different sauces. Yum! Can't wait to be back. Wine and service is always excellent.

Tried the veal schnitzel and homemade Swiss dumplings for the first time. Wasn't sure what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised! Bartenders were extremely helpful and nice!

I felt like I was in the Swiss Alps with Disney-esque theming that was almost a bit over the top. You get a nice whiff of cheese as you walk into the restaurant. It felt cozy, comforting, and warm. Our waitress was very nice, patient, and timely. Weinberg Schnecken: Probably the best tasting dish, they were warm and flavorful with herbs and butter. Zwiebelsuppe: The onion soup tasted like you'd expect, very typical. Raclette Fondue: Maybe it's just me, but was very mid. Been to another fondue place and had similar thoughts, so maybe I'm not a big fondue guy. The veggies to dip were the best dipping side, but there was very little given. A ton of bread came on the side. Side Sausages: Very very small portion, which just tasted like a hot dog. Overall, the food was mid, but a fondue experience might be worthwhile.

We had a group of 7 and our waitress, Sigi, handled our orders expertly. Everything we ordered was excellent and timed perfectly. She recommended the Christmas punch and espresso chai martini, which were creative and delicious. She explained the menu well and all the recommendations were spot On. I was excited to find out they offered a half portion of fondue and the best , gluten free bread I have ever had. We were all impressed by the excellent wine selection. They were out of Amarone and the Sommelier brought out a wonderful 2018 Barolo for the same price. We all agreed this was our favorite dining experience since being in Vail for the week. The atmosphere and waitstaff made this such a fun and unique experience.
Beautiful restaurant, spectacular service, memorable dining
Beautiful restaurant, spectacular service, memorable dining experience and overall great value. Hands down best old fashion cocktail I've had. Quality ingredients and made like it's supposed to be made. Raclette fondue was simple but amazing Beef Tenderloin Fondue was tender (tried cooking it in the broth and on the hot skillet) flavored/ seasoned perfectly. You can't go wrong by making reservations ahead of time and won't be disappointed.
The food, service and atmosphere were all top-notch.
The restaurant was clean and decor was very cute. Denni was a very attentive, enthusiastic and pleasant server. We ordered the beef fondue, cheese fondue, wiener schnitzel, filet mignon and kids' spaghetti, all of which were all outstanding. Our entire party of 7 was really happy/impressed with our food. I don't consider generally consider myself a fan of Swiss food, but would 100% go back to Swiss Chalet if/when we're back in Vail.
The worst fillet I have ever been served.
I've lived for years in Switzerland and the cheese fondue is less than classic. Authentic decor but $400 for 3 people at dinner is absurd for these meals.
Sigi is incredible!! She was the best waitress.
So knowledgeable and had amazing recommendations. We did the alper classic and garlic and herb cheese, and then the oil and broth versions for the meat. We also ordered the sausage platter, French onion soup, and arugula salad (SO good). We also ordered the perfect pair drinks (the pear schnapps and raspberry schnapps versions as starters which were excellent). It is a little loud in the restaurant and was a tad warm, but an amazing experience!
Authentic Swiss experience with good food.
The cheese fondue was excellent and on point. Bread could be better though. The escargot was a bit dry. Tartare seasoned heavily. A tad too deep in mustard flavor. Price is $$$-$$$$. We added truffle and champagne to our fondue. The service was attentive and excellent. Located at the Sonnenalp Hotel. Two hour complimentary valet parking with dining. The decor inside is very cute!
Swiss Chalet - Sigi
Food and service was amazing! Sigi was a fantastic waitress. 10/10 recommend! I especially recommend the fondue (and Sigi!).
Swiss Chalet Review
The experience and food quality was superb. Sigi was my waiter and she was fantastic! Come here when in Vail!
So good!
very good food! loved Sigi as a waiter! desert was so good, very good cheese fondue. would definitely recommend!
Perfect mountain food!! Can’t be missed
Great ambience amazing food!! Sigi our waiter was so great, can’t wait for coming back next season, this is a must on a mountain
What a Treat!
Outstanding experience! I have been in Vail for over 30 yrs. I love the Kings Club for music. But never ventured into Swiss Chalet, I did not think it was for me..cheese fondue? Wow what a mistake. Swiss Chalet has an ambience that Vail is known for old world beautiful. I have come to know one hostess Sigi who knows her job to perfection. This is only about fondue but I do love the beef fondue and happy to say I will spend my Birthday there soon. Sigi suggested a bottle of wine and I have to tell you it was outstanding even though it was a little out of my price range..we loved it. Don't miss out on the very special place that transforms you to Europe!
Worst Schnitzel ever
Really, if you like schnitzels, don't go here. They deep fry their schnitzels so it is more like a batter around fish (as in "fish & chips), which also causes their veal to be tough as .*..*. I need bread crumbs and butter to make a schnitzel - this had neither. The sides were small, and the potatoes had little to do with potato salad. Extremely disappointing
Swiss Fondue:
The cheese fondue is amazing. I wish I could have scraped the bottom of the pot. Sigi’s recommendation was spot on. We especially liked dipping the roasted potatoes.
Gigi-Swiss Chalet Vail
Gigi was extremely friendly and attentive. We give her very high marks. Great job! Also, the food and atmosphere was terrific.

Five stars
Five stars for Sigi- she was so lovely w her recommendations. We really enjoyed our experience: the food is delicious and such a cool experience. Thanks Sigi!
We went with our family of 5 for an early dinner.
The restaurant was quiet. My husband and I had been here years ago with friends and wanted to introduce our kids to it. This would be a 4/5 star review if we didn't experience what happened later. We ordered cocktails, a bottle of wine. Kids got Shirley Temples. We had appetizers, 2 different fondues. Extra apples. And dessert. Our waitress, we thought, was quite wonderful. However when my husband got the bill, our kids were tired and jet lagged 6:30 Vail time, 8:30 east coast time) so he thought the bill seemed high but hurriedly paid it. He realized the next morning our server added a 20% service charge into our check! The website clearly states it's for parties of 6 or more. My husband tipped 20% on the total, not realizing the service charge was on there. Needless to say, we were quite disappointed but felt uncomfortable calling the next day so we let it go so we could focus on enjoying the rest of our trip. Just a bummer because we would no longer recommend this restaurant
Great
The food was fantastic. The server Sigi was divine. The atmosphere is beautiful and authentic. Great experience with friends
Ms
Great service from Sigi! We enjoyed the various different fondues and the gluhwein. The arugula radicchio salad was big enough for four people. Great place for apres ski!
This hotel and restaurant is a wonderful change of scenery
This hotel and restaurant is a wonderful change of scenery from the lovely but predictable high end hotels in Vail. Stepping inside feels like stepping into the old world and the food hits the spot if you prefer to imagine you're in the alps. I went here after an emergency made me miss a trip to Switzerland. The Swiss Chalet helped ease the sting with the charm, hospitality and delicious authentic fondue, raclette and wines.
This is definitely a dining experience with great customer
This is definitely a dining experience with great customer service. They had a nice wine selection and the presentation of the food was excellent. We ordered the cheese fondue with add ons. It was a lot of food and very unique. We topped it off with a delicious Apple streusel with vanilla ice cream.
Holy moly I'm full.
Such a great mixture of foods. Great service from Suzanne. Best meal we've had in Vail. Going to walk off this cheese and hit the slopes tomorrow

Had a reservation placed for a month and was so excited to try it with my family. Got treated terribly by the restaurant manager (Raul Dous) & left the restaurant holding back tears. I never leave reviews on yelp but I was treated with such disrespect, not hospitable at all.
Not too good as expected.
When you get in, the smell is bad there. Was waiting to be seated for long time and looks like hostess just forgot about us. Seems like they shorted on staff. Nice mulled wine. Fondue is the average. Not satisfied
Worst experience having reservations! while waiting in line
Worst experience having reservations! while waiting in line to be seated, our time expired for the reservation. Although we had a card and were at the restaurant within the time given to arrive, the reservation was given to a walk in group. Needless to say the manager was rude and would not give us a table. What is the point of having a reservation if you will loose it either way?
This is such a fun spot for dinner with friends! We shared
This is such a fun spot for dinner with friends! We shared fondue at the table, had great drinks, and wonderful conversation. I love that it's not too loud, so you can actually hear your dinner conversation. We will always go to Swiss Chalet when in Vail!
Unfortunately, this is not the real thing.
..Great service, though. The Wiener Schnitzel was a disappointment, two little tiny pieces of veal on a large plate, wrong breading, the Spazle came with a weird curry flavor and the Rösti seems to be rewarmed from the day before. The apple strudel was fine, but missed the crispness of the dough. With a lot of imagination, you could think that you spent an evening in Switzerland...
Sigi was an amazing waitress and the atmosphere, food and
Sigi was an amazing waitress and the atmosphere, food and drinks made for a great meal. You start with baskets of baked pretzels with black salt topped butter. Yum. I tried a medium Weiss beer and it was fantastic. You can get a smaller size or the larger stein depending on how thirsty you are. Swiss Chalet also has many good cocktails. The food is definitely shareable. The Haus salad has butter lettuce with a sour cream dressing. The beet salad is full of red and golden beets along with frisée, pea tendrils and a great dressing. The onion soup has melted cheese on crouton and a broth you savor till the last bite. The fondue is wonderful and there are many options for cheese and meat. We did the suggested Alper fondue and added a sausage sampler and Wiener schnitzel to cut up and dip in the cheese. You do get pieces of bread to dip in your fondue as well as a plate of roasted potatoes and vegetables. It was great for kids too as many of the other tables had families (we went earlier at 5:30pm)A great experience in Vail Village that is worth a dinner during your stay.
