Ziya Restaurant Mumbai Reviews
It's a wonderful & delicious dinning experience while watching the bay....
In Ziya breakfast & lunch experience was delicious Mr. Rishab, Sanket, wangwat and Ms Lisa, Amelia had made my dinning experience delicious. While having food or waiting for food you can enjoy the seamless beautiful of bay. Service was fast and food was delicious. There's a live kitchen.
Sinful. Spellbound. Sacred.
Dining at Ziya, and being served by Mehak was an experience that redefined what fine Indian cuisine could be. Refined, intimate, and unforgettable. From the moment we stepped in, the restaurant’s calm ambience offered a sense of quiet luxury. The food was exceptional. Familiar Indian flavours were elevated with precision and elegance. Every course was balanced, layered, and beautifully plated. Rich curries, nuanced spices, and delicate breads arrived one after another in perfect timing. The attention to flavor detail was unreal—it was Indian food taken to its absolute peak. When our server, Mehak, noticed we hadn’t ordered drinks, they offered us a set of complimentary, handcrafted pairings to complete the meal. And later, when we were too full for dessert, they still brought us miniature versions—just enough to satisfy a final craving, and again, entirely complimentary. Special mention must go to Mehak, who handled our table with genuine warmth and attention. She adapted every dish to our spice preferences without us needing to ask twice, ensuring we felt taken care of from start to finish. Her service was seamless and personal she truly made the night memorable. Ziya is the epitome of luxury Indian dining: subtle, exclusive, and generous in all the right ways. Not a single detail is missed. Not once did we feel rushed or overlooked. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like the entire restaurant is moving to your rhythm.
Excellent Dinner with Meghna’s service around .
Meghna Chatterji was an excellent person who looked after her and made us so happy and memorable dinner . Will look forward for the visit again asap . All the best to her in all her future endeavours and career .
Great food.
The food at ziya, mumbai was fantastic Loved the seafood dishes the most. Service need to be addressed upon though. Too structured and robotic. They need to relax i guess.
Ziya ...such a treat!
We ate at Ziya in the Oberoi Mumbai a few nights ago and what a treat it was. It has a lovely ambiance with great creative food so thank you Chef Bupender and Exec Chef Malay. Abhijit was our server and he was very friendly, helpful and totally professional. Mahek was also always around when you needed her. Great food, great service and a great setting makes for a wonderful meal. We will be back.
Disappointing
I had read a large number of previous reviews on TA and decided on this restaurant as we wanted authentic quality Indian food while in Mumbai. Although personally we were both very disappointed for a number of reasons A) The staff failed to listen ( will come back to this point) - when I indicated to the waiter I had a number of questions about particular dishes he either completely misunderstood what I had said or ignored it and proceeded to tell me his recommendations on ordering the number of dishes and which dishes. This wasn’t what was asked so once he had finished his preamble I proceeded to ask my questions about particular dishes! Thankfully too we did not take his advice ( and did not order some palette pleasers) but just started with ‘ appetisers’ - these were actually huge! You really don’t need both in my view. B) Both our appetisers were very big - in fact too big as an appetiser -and maybe we were just unlucky in our choices but also in our view both dishes had too much going on - flavours were competing rather than complimentary and it felt these were neither authentic or particularly nice - just a lot of bits made to look pretty on a plate or in a dish! Sometimes less and more simple dishes are definitely more! Neither of us could eat our dishes and although the waitress did ask why she again failed to listen implying maybe I just didn’t like the level of spice this she proceeded to reiterate twice and I had to correct her assumption - the issue of portion size wasn’t even responded to. The mains to be fair were better but again drowning in sauces. C) It was clear by this point the meal had become uncomfortable both for us and the staff and although some attempt was made to smooth things over - offer of a complimentary desert. It wasn’t what we wanted or asked for but I appreciate they were perhaps want to ensure we had a nice evening. Overall though I think this restaurant is relying on the reputation of it being in the Oberoi and being innovative cuisine rather than letting honest authentic food speak for itself. We both felt very disappointed and wished we had in fact stayed at our own hotel the Taj palace to eat
Fancy Place in the Mumbai Oberoi
We dined as a group with set menu at Oberoi hotel’s flagship restaurant and the quality of the food was excellent. I wasn’t particularly fond of the Indian wines that came with the meal, but the European wines (partly due to the country’s 150% foreign wine import tax) were marked up sometimes more than 500%. Nonetheless, you'll have an excellent meal in luxurious surroundings.
Oh what a spectacular fall from grace!
Ziya was my very favourite restaurant in Mumbai for several years - my last visit being around four years ago. You could be sure of some spectacular dishes - generally not tinkering too much with traditional recipes/preparation albeit with a cutting edge feel, principally in terms of quality, coupled with impeccable service. But I cannot think of a greater disappointment than my visit in November 2024 when what came out of the kitchen represented attempts, mostly botched ones, to reinvent classics, the sad result being incredibly sanitised food. The service was spotty to say the least. While some of the waiting staff were trained to follow instructions to the letter - ask them something slightly left field - or even try to engage in conversation - and you get the feeling that they're robots. Worst of all was the bill, which was slightly more expensive than what I'd paid at two-Michelin star Gymkhana in London - whose food was several times better than Ziya's. A very sad and precipitous decline.
Perfect
We were looking for great food and we got it. The location is great and the service was good but it was the menu and the quality of the food that made everything perfect. They have all the classics and many choices with modern twists so if you want a world where you can get the best of all India has to offer this is a place for you.
Great lunch!
Great lunch experience! Food was great- especially the beetroot and lamb galauti the scallops and caviar with the potatoes, mutton ghee roat, and the sundried tomamto chicken khichdi. View was wonderful and service was excellent- special thanks to Aatmaram who explained every dish in detail and ensured we had everything we needed!
Truly 5star experience
Have visited to celebrate my wife's birthday. Excellent ambience, delicious food and truly friendly service. Specially I would like to mention about 'Lynda' & 'Dhiren', who surprisingly arranged for special cake for our birthday celebration...
It was nice and ambience was good
Ziya restaurant offers an exquisite dining experience with impeccable service and delectable cuisine. It impresses with its elegant ambiance, innovative menu showcasing diverse flavors, and attentive staff.
Exceptional lunch experience.
A scheduled lunch as part of a tour from our cruise ship. Could not fault service, food or ambience. A memorable experience which makes us want to return. The Oberoi itself is a beautiful building with an amazing entry foyer which add to the overall charm.
It was a great experience
The spot is great ..and they have good facilities we had a grand time there ...the food was good we had a great night we all had fun
Outstanding!
In a word, Ziya is outstanding. Rarely have we enjoyed such fine food. This restaurant, the signature dining option at the Oberoi Mumbai, offers patrons a unique take on Indian cuisine, giving it a modern twist created by a Michelin star chef. We opted for the set menu with wine pairing and the whole meal, without exception, was delicious. The variety of courses and the subtle but distinct flavours created a meal that we will long remember.
Wonderful Dining Experience!
Ziya is outstanding. We dined there twice during our recent stay in Mumbai (2024), and on many additional evenings during our previous visits to Mumbai. The food is excellent! The service also is wonderful. The food and menus are inspired by famous Michelin-starred Chef Vineet Bhatia. The ambience is wonderful with views looking out large windows to the ocean. We look forward to dining here again.
Incredible flavours!
We were so impressed with the food here and the range of flavours. Everything was beautifully presented and so tasty! We ate the non-vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairing and every single course was exceptional. Truly Michelin star quality dining!
A Birthday to Remember
Phenomenal experience. Rishi and his team added stars to my birthday celebration. Food was delicious and the upkeep of the outlet was superlative. Special shoutout to Rishi, Mehak, Dhiren, Linda and bell captain Mahesh who clicked such good photos of mine.
Truly Enjoyable Experience!
There are some evenings in one’s life that simply cannot be forgotten. For the fortunate lot, counted among those evenings are those which are spent in the best hotel, in a beautiful ambience, and enjoying the finest food that too curated by Michelin Star Chef Vineet Bhatia himself. Thank you very much for a truly enjoyable evening.

Expected much more from an Oberoi restaurant
Excellent service and ambience. But food was disappointing and mediocre. We expected more from an Oberoi restaurant.
Lunch at Ziya Restaurant
Food was good , Dabbawala concept was very unique and tasty too. Awesome view of the Arabian Sea. Even tge Ala carte that we ordered was very tasty.
Mixed Experience at The Ziya Restaurant: Luxurious Ambiance, Unfortunate Incident, and Lack of Follow-Up
The Ziya restaurant had luxurious food and ambiance, but I fainted after my dinner there. Despite being a healthy individual with no health issues, I ended up in the hospital for a check-up. The hotel staff of Oberoi were kind and helpful during the incident. However, I found it rude that no one from the restaurant followed up or considered the possibility that their food might have been the cause, which I strongly suspect was the case. (I don't have a problem with spicy food.) All they did was repeatedly ask if I had been drinking, which was annoying and pushy under the circumstances, as I kept confirming that I don't drink alcohol.
Excellent Food
This is so good and well maintained restaurant. The food is awesome, the service and communication of staff is so cool and cam . They patiently listen to customer. Overall this is fantastic.
The best Indian restaurant in Bombay!
Exceptional food, great service, the ambience is calm and peaceful. Loved the menu and the views. The team at Ziya has creates an exemplary place or dine in the best Indian cuisine restaurent in Bombay.
Not the best tasting menu.
We ate at the Ziya opting for the impressions taster menu with wine paring. Sadly the whole experience was underwhelming. Initially there was a lack of wine to start and waited around 30 minutes without a drink. This was mentioned during the evening and addressed by the restaurant to a satisfactory conclusion. There are a couple of key factors that needs to be mentioned. The samosa was incredibly hard pastry . The water described it as filo pastry however it was difficult to cut into without it almost flying off the plate. Filo pastry in my experience is crispy and light- the complete opposite. The lobster course was served only just warm and the bread from that course wasn’t good.I was offered a replacement at the time but declined and ultimately it was taken off the bill. This shouldn’t have been allowed to go out of the kitchen without being the correct temperature. Ultimately it wasn’t a good experience there was constant change of waiters, the beginning courses were very slow and the latter somewhat fast. Food temperatures questionable and drink timings poor. The chef did come out to speak to us and we said to him it must be difficult to run a tasting menu at the same time as an a la carte menu but we were left disappointed with the food. One thing I would like to mention is the fish course and the lamb course was very tasty. I’m sorry to write a negative review but feel very strongly that what should have been a good experience was let down throughout the meal.
Mr Vivek Wahurwagh
The experience was awesome and the service was good. Will define refer other about Ziya Restaurant At Mumbai.
An discordant average experience
Overall my impression about the 7-course long menu is ‘A meticulous expression of varied recipes but Just average in terms of taste” with fairly expensive deal. “pas reasonable”. What one would expect in such long course gastronomic menu is an experience for foody alike an Opera, where the start is soft melodious, gradually reaching the altar with a profound climax. The welcome to the restaurant is warm and prudent. However, there is a long halt between the courses served at a point, where it can become boring. The entire experience might just question about the ranking of being a star Michelin. Looking at the overall prize, its overrated and I would not recommend this to another passionate foody.
Wonderful days
It’s a great time in ZIYA, Mumbai. Enjoyed all with family and it was awesome. Waiting for next trip and planning to book the same place.good service
My cook at home would make a better biryani
Below average food. I ordered an appetiser that had icecream and ingredients didn't go well together. I ordered a lamb biryani which was tastless and I had to order mango pickle, even my chef at home does a better job with the biryani. The service was top notch and the staff was very attentive.
Excellent Service

5* Indian Cuisine. 5* Service. 5* Location. Chef Vineet MBE
An Indian culinary masterclass. Set inside the world famous Oberoi Hotel, Ziya is exceptional in every aspect. Head chef Shankar is understudy to Michelin Star Chef Vineet Bhatia who has curated a menu full of eastern promise and so much Plant Based vegan options too. From the fantastic meet and greet to the beautiful intimate setting, your senses and tongue are on a journey of satisfaction. Honestly if you think curry think Ziya as it’s that good. A very popular place with all of Mumbai A-List together with tourists, a booking is essential and very easy to make. A worthy challenger for being one of the best Indian restaurants in the World!!! It’s that good!
Just wonderful
