Al's Steakhouse Ottawa Reviews
Bad experience. Not recommended.
The level of service at this steakhouse has declined significantly. There was an issue with one of my dishes, and when the manager walked by, I brought it to his attention. He acknowledged the concern but walked away without taking any action to reso
Holy SH#T this place is amazing
I have no understanding how this is rated as a 4 on trip advisor. THIS PLACE IS A 6 out of 5. This restaurant is OUTSTANDING. The bone in rib eye was out of this world. Portion sizes are over generous. Service is exceptional and again, outstanding. T

10/10 food was awesome, service was superb, owner was attentive. Go there for steak. Have the blueberry cheesecake for dessert!
Nice place to visit but definitely not the best steaks
We visited Al's Steakhouse for my wife's birthday. Service was great, and we had no problem changing tables as they originally placed us near the kitchen entrance. However, I feel that it took far too long for our food to arrive after we or
Still a good restaurant.
My husband and I have been customers of Al's Steakhouse for over 30 years. We have always enjoyed our meals, the service and the atmosphere. However, during our visit today with a couple of friends, we were disappointed to discover that the se

I want to be generous as the service was fantastic but the food is absolutely overpriced and terrible. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and Caesar salad and mains. Admittedly the mushrooms were great but the salad came 15 minutes later and literally
Absolutely loved the steak at Al's Steakhouse.
We got two tomahawks and the wagyu beef. Both cooked to perfection. The bread was also warm and the Caesar salad was very tasty. Great service and a nice ambiance with moody lighting.
I had dinner at Al's yesterday on a Thursday evening.
My friend and I have been eating at this restaurant since 1968. We met in the bar and found it difficult to chat as the music was too loud, the bar was busy so people had to talk loudly to compete with the music. The service at the bar was excellent

The Moody Foody - Overhyped & Overpriced Went here for a date night, ready to splurge on what I *thought* would be the best steak of my life. My coworkers raved about this place, so expectations were *sky-high*. But honestly? Just **average**.
Als Steakhouse downtown
This was my fathers favorite spot for steak in Ottawa. We went with an open mind and were not disappointed. It was a little pricy but the steak and salad were delicious. I would say the mash potatoes are not what they used to be and would not orde
Superb service and food.
A snowy night in Ottawa (12/23/24) our first time in the city. So so happy that I made a reservation at Alโs. Steak was incredible! So was the service. Thanks for a memorable evening.
My husband and I went here on a snowy night (12/23/24).
Such a great experience! Steak was perfect. Service on point. Thanks to Al's for making the night memorable
I recently ate here for the first time on my 50th birthday.
I had made a reservation for 2 of us and they sat us in the bar area which was more casual and did not have a celebratory vibe. We asked the hostess to move to a nicer table in the main part of the restaurant. They were able to accommodate us which
A must try! ๐ฅ
We originally booked dinner at 3:45 because that was the only option on OpenTable, however, I called them and they willingly accommodated us at 5PM. Service is excellent, there was a little delay with serving us the main dish because of WiFi trouble
A series of mixed up orders
Great flavours and welcoming staff. We certainly enjoyed the food and will likely go again. But I am hoping management reads these reviews and addresses two things. 1. You need a better system for keeping orders straight. The escargot and the stuff

Amazing steak, probably the best in the city.
Has decades of proof of service and ambiance
Service & Ambiance: This was a cute, moody steakhouse.
The lighting was low, but the overall vibe was relaxed and quiet. Perfect spot for a date night! Our waitress was Sarah and she was great. Knew everything about the menu, was attentive, and kind. She really enhanced our dining experience. 5/5 Drinks
Went here for family celebration.
Wonderful beef steaks. More than a human needs to eat grilled perfectly. Ambiance: Seating was comfy but sound level did get a bit loud. Service: very attentive waiter host and high attention to detail. Be prepared to empty your wallet but worth t

Amazing Meal at NYE!!
We had an awesome dinner at Al's Steakhouse for New Year's Eve on Elgin Street. We made a reservation in November and had a fabulous meal from appetizers to dinner and dessert and coffee. A great way to bring in the New Year at Al's Steakhouse in Ott
Do not go! It is a waste of hard earned money!
Nice environment but the food and service were unacceptable for the prices. We ordered a drink from the bar and it took 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Food was expensive for what it was. A salad at $30.00 for iceberg lettuce and a minuscule p
Surprised by Gratuity calculation
Birthday lunch for 14: food excellent and server absolutely terrific. Disappointed by gratuity though: menu indicates 18% added to groups of 8 or more. We were charged 20% and it was on the the total AFTER taxes. Cheeky and a little underhanded.
Excellent steaks
Truly an institution in Ottawa for a good steak and good wine. Served expertly by handsom Hassan. Sam the owner took the time to stop and talk at our table. The only drawback... extremely noisy!
Overpriced and ok taste
Filet mignon was good, Baked potato was just warm. you need to pay extra for everything: all dress Potato (5) and Bรฉarnaise sauce (4). Overpriced Items (22$ for 4 large shrimps...come on) . Restaurant was way to dark /lots of people using th
Great Resturant food and service
Really good food and service from this restaurant that was founded by the head servers grandad. Booking essential and tables are spaced out. Really great steak and wine list. We had to order a taxi and while we were waiting he talked to us about wher
Fantastic Steak Choices
My wife and I celebrated our 11th anniversary at Als . The atmosphere is very good. When the restaurant is packed it is very loud. The parking at the rear is great. There is a parking attendant on site and he is very good in assisting to find a parki
An Elgin Street stalwart
A rather macho place this, specialising as it does in steaks, walls peppered with photographs of baseball and hockey players, fellow diners comprising pairs of male lawyers plotting their next strike, waitresses with well-rounded figures. From a lunc
Decent food, good service
A business acquaintance and I had a decent lunch here, nothing special, but the service was good. We both had the steak burger and it was not overly tasty. The accompanying salad was better.
Nice dinner.
Nice atmosphere, excellent food, and our waiter was awesome. We were visiting Ottawa for a couple of days and were looking for a nice place to celebrate a birthday. Alโs steakhouse did not disappoint.

Restaurant was busy on the 20th of May, however, they still found a comfortable table for me. I pretty much ordered with a photo of last year's birthday meal, which I am sure made staff happy seeing that I came back again a year later for another me
Been meaning to try Al's since moving to Ottawa.
Finally tried it last nite, reservation at 6:30-finally served at 8:20 Great steak but did not compensate for the non existent service! Not the servers fault, she never stopped running but just way too few staff. If you cannot find servers then ta
Nice ambiance, good food, and good service.
To start, we got crab cakes and calamari. The crab cakes were a little different in texture than most other crab cakes I had in the past, and I didn't enjoy it that much. The calamari was good though. We ordered the porterhouse steak, medium rare. I
Just moved back to Ottawa after 22 years away.
. Time may have affected my memories from the 80's an 90's but I anticipated better food. The young lady serving us was very good, prompt, attentive. Not her fault that my 14 oz bone in rib was luke warm and the brocolini was undercooked tough and ju
