Very unique cuisine of Japanese-Italian fusion in a chic area of North Loop. Standout appetizers -- lamb, which looks like tuna ... so good! The croquette and mushroom kaarage are also very memorable. My pasta was superb, creamy with a bit of heat.

Sanjusan was an INCREDIBLE meal.
The cozy, dimly-lit restaurant was pretty crowded on a Saturday night, but the service was great. To start, we got the Rikyu with green tea vodka and the Sanju with sake, both of which were refreshing. For mains, the squid ink pappardelle was INSANE

Food was fresh, delicious, unique and super quick. Must try the mushrooms, pizza and pork gyoza. I also enjoyed the dessert but can't pronounce the name. $10 for valet, must try! I also really liked the wooden presentation cube for check.

We walked in on a Friday night and were able to be quickly seated at the bar. Noah, the bartender, was incredibly personable and helpful. Our drinks and food were delicious. I had their spin on a spicy margarita, super tasty but you need to like mezc
I went with a girlfriend at 645 on a Tuesday.
This restaurant is very small, so although they do accept walk ins, I would make a reservation to ensure you get a table. Food 5/5: We went in with the concept of sharing and had the old fashioned, pork gyoza, mentaiko lumache pasta and the Isaac B

The vibe was definitely a little more upscale, but also casual. Our service was pretty nice and standard. The food was really good!! Highly recommend the charred asparagus and squid ink pappardelle!

I have been here many times and think the food and service is very good! The miso pesto pizza is genius and one of my favorites but last night I had the fettuccine which is most expensive pasta on their menu clocking at $47. It is worth every bite. I

Upon arrival we, we were greeted by couldn't be bothered to do my job host and hostess after waiting at the hostess stand for over 5 minutes having to endure the over crowded cramped over noisy teeny tiny space that is Sanjusan. Luckily I had b

I've been here twice now, and think it's officially time for a review. Both times my experience has been nothing short of fantastic. The ambiance, service, and flavors created by Sanjusan are great and stand apart from other restaurants in
Came here at another time after a few amazing visits.
.. and it was not as great. For the first time we sat at the bar. The bartenders were SO SO at best. We got sake and our bartender just was not understanding what we were looking for and he even talked to us like we were dumb in terms of the sizes
Great restaurant in North Loop.
Sat at the chefs table and it was a great experience. The food and service were incredible. Highly recommend the duck tataki and the squid ink papperdelle. We shared all the plates which was perfect for us. We will be back.
We'll Come Here OFTEN!!
EVERY BITE was wonderful!!! The Maitake Karaage is a FABULOUS mushroom appetizer, and the Lumache is a GREAT pasta!! Our server Chelsea was great and gave us good tips. What a fine restaurant!!
A REAL taste treat with innovative food!
A great, innovative dinner! Both cocktails were excellent (San Jusan Old Fashioned, Hana Hachi), the pork gyoza, yakitori (thigh and meatball) all are innovative and tasty. The past highlight is the lumache! Our server, Makena, guided us through t
Different but Delicious
This spot is beautiful. The service was impeccable. The food was excellent. It is fusion, but they have several pizzas on the menu for the less adventurous. The food was freshly prepared, and the flavors melded together very well. Everyone was ve
Tremendous
One of the best meals I've had in a really long time. From the small plates to the yakitori to the pasta and finally the pizza. Tremendous!!
Excellent food and service
The food was amazing and service was fantastic. We shared the beef carpaccio, pork gyoza, and three different pizzas. Fun atmosphere. We can't wait to go back.
Unique Japanese/Italian fusion cuisine in an open kitchen environment
Creative Japanese/Italian cuisine with excellent service. Yakitori service, beautiful traditional dishes made with intelligent creative flair like beet arancini and orecchiette with wild boar ragu. Eclectic wine list.
Unique bites with flair!
We took the family here for a pre-holiday dinner on a Wednesday night. Pretty snowy Minnesota evening. The place is quaint with views of the kitchen. We had a lovely dinner. We all loved the appetizers, especially the pumpkin futsu tempura! We also
